Looks to me like it dismembered itself when it was trying to molt. Strange indeed!
I would still feed it nonetheless. My cham loves em cause they're soft with no exoskeleton
I used a coarse sponge and soap on some oak tree branches. Removed the bark but they still provide perfect grip for my cham. Have had them in the cage for one month now with no health issues arising.
Free range is the only way to go imho. Makes them superior hunters ;)
Worms I just put on branches. He doesn't handfeed from me yet, even when I've got a bright red butterworm floppin around for its life in my fingers, he just gives me the same "eff that" look
I am 100% certain you have a female. They tend to stay a bland orange/salmon/pink colored, as opposed to some spectacular colors you can see on males. The ONLY way to identify what type of locale you have would be to breed it with a pure Maroantsetra male, and if the male offspring were pure and...

This is a must read for first time chameleon keepers by Jann.
Also, you have a female. Which means eggs, at some point. When you...
Panther chameleon is the name of the species. "Locale" refers to the region of Madagascar they are from, which give them specific color characteristics. So, a Nosy Be panther chameleon is from Nosy Be island and are mostly solid blue. Ambilobe's are known for red bar/blue bars. Ambanja's have...
what is his supplement schedule? what brand/type and wattage of lights are being used? The brightness looks really intense, but that could be from the camera flash.
could be vit A deficiency
I was wondering how hatchlings survived in the wild if females bury their clutches at least 8 inches below the ground? Do the babies know how to dig their way out by instinct or how does this work? Seems like they would suffocate. Is this where survival of the fittest comes into play?
This...
Excellent! His eyes opening is a very good sign, even if they are still sunken. They won't fix themselves over night. Give him another good shower again before you go to the vet and follow Eliza's advice about dripping/misting
Looks like I was wrong (there are 3 subspecies)
http://www.jacksonschameleoncaresheet.com/
The Standard Jackson's Chameleon (Chamaeleo jacksonii jacksonii) is the rarest subspecies in the US. They are from Kenya and reach a total length of approximately 10 inches. Males have three horns while...
There are not different "locales" of jackson's chameleons. The only time that term is used is for panther chameleons and the region of madagascar they come from (ie Nosy Be, Ambanja, etc)
In other words all jackson's will end up looking pretty much the same, except maybe slight variations in...
Give him a long, warm shower in your own bathtub to try to hydrate him. He may not like it but it is for his own good. He needs a reptile vet ASAP. They can do blood work to check the chemical imbalance in his system and likely give him a shot of something
I'm sorry I can't help you more. Good...
