So my little dude is seven weeks old today, and he's started showing red/orange around his throat. His he's a cross between a high red ambilobe male and a screameleons sambava female so ill expect him to be super red and orange when he's grown. When have everyone else's panthers colors started...
I think you guys might be onto something for raising neonates haha, they're nice safe soft enclosures, and some even come with a coupon for caterpillars (feeders!) Lol
I kept my first veiled chameleon baby in a glass tank for a few months, I was just a kid and didn't have the access to all of the info readily available on their care now so I had no idea, he did fine for a while, but I was using a coconut husk substrate (not recommended) and it got pretty...
Wow, I wasn't aware of the effects of flouride...I just checked my city's water quality report and found that they do flouridate my water...guess its time for me to start using RO water.
True, I didn't mean to imply that distilled water was as dangerous as salt water, so if it came across that way it was unintentional, but it's still my belief that distilled water is unhealthy for human Or animal consumption, and its also the opinion of many in the medical professionals for...
Distilled water and Reverse Osmosis water are processed very differently, which is why RO water. Is recomended, not distilled. Distilled water doesn't contain any of the solutes normally present in drinking water, and yes, even rain water has minerals. This lack of minerals and salts in...
I have chlorinated city water, but you can buy a dechlorinator at almost any pet supply place, I use reptisafe, it removes chlorine and heavy metals, as well as adding electrolytes and calcium to the water. Just a few drops and you're good to go!
Where did you find the stick insects? They're safe to feed but I'm pretty sure they're illegal in the US, Or at least the Indian stick insects are, I believe due to the fact that they're parthenogenetic (reproduce asexually) so even one escaped female could establish them as an invasive species.
Personally I love both chams and beardies, for different reasons. Chameleons are the most interesting creatures in the world imho, and are fascinating to just observe, but beardies are sweet tempered and docile, every morning after misting my chameleon, I hand feed my bearded dragon fruits and...
I have a panther chameleon, a bearded dragon, and had a veiled when I was younger, and I can 100% say that if you want a pet that is always willing to come sit with you Or enjoy handling, a bearded dragon is the way to go. Chameleons are wonderful pets in their own right, and many of them...
awesome, thank you guys! I'm definitely going to want a mantis with a high rate of reproduction, between my baby panther and my juvenile bearded dragon I can barely keep up with their food intake lol, they're pigs!
He completely ignores the d. melanogaster wingless fruit flies I've offered, he loves his crickets though fortunately. I feel like by the time I got a culture of hydei established he wouldn't give them a second thought, but I suppose it couldn't hurt as I intend to pick up another cham in a...
Awesome, thanks! My little guy is only two months old so ill probably start with the smaller houseflies , I'm excited to try breeding a mantid colony, I think it'll be a really interesting side project
Does anyone have any experience they would care to share regarding establishing a breeding colony of either house flies Or any reasonably hardy variety of praying mantis? Id like to try my hand at both, I feel like they would add some great variety to my feeders.
I agree with jannb, marathon is beautiful! Florida is great but I'd avoid Orlando Or Miami, they're both in the top ten in the nation for unemployment lol. I'll be moving back down to fl myself once I get my bio degree finished up here in ct.
That sounds more like some sort of parasitic worm, ringworm as contracted by people isn't actually a worm, but a fungus, I'm pretty sure it's just called ringworm because it displays as a raised circle that people back in the day thought was a worm
