Just read all 25 pages lol, pretty cool to follow someone's chameleon experience from first adoption to owner of three! As far as the dermestid beetles, they're safe to feed, my only concern is that they generally feed on dead material. If you have them on a different diet and it's working let...
Thanks to some good advice, I realized that he was feeling chilly now that he's gotten bigger after a shed, and raised his temps a bit, he's now much happier and active, so thanks guys!!
Yeah our weather here has been ridiculous, 70 one day last week Or so, then 15 two days later. It's hovering in the 20-30's now, but you're right haha I've had to constantly adjust things to keep the temps where I want them. Now that I think about it, the extra mistings could've been throwing...
The rest of his enclosure is between 70 and 75, but I adjusted the basking lamp distance a little closer, well see if he likes it! It's been at the same distance since he was teeny, so you're probably right, he could use a little temp boost now
81.2 degrees is the max its hit today, currently at 79.8, normally he's nowhere near this dark, and the only thing different about today is that he's shedding, I figure he's probably uncomfortable so I'm misting him a bit extra.
So my bearded dragon and my panther chameleon are both shedding today, very grumpy little guys. Figured I'd share a pic! He's very dark today, not his usual happy greenish, so the shedding skin contrasts really well haha.
I rigged mine to sit like six inches away with duct tape and picture hanging wire lol but a stand Or a clamp lamp could work, other people probably have less ugly ways of setting it up than myself haha
It looks great! My only advice would be to be careful with that heat lamp, little chameleons love climbing on the screen so you don't want him to get burned, maybe lift it a few inches, and raise the basking vine if lifting the light lowers the temp too much
This is Habanero, his dad was a red bar ambilobe and his mom was a sambava, I can't wait until his colors come in! He was hatched on October 23rd, so he's not quite 2 months old
Ok, so I'm building two new cages this weekend when I have some free time. (Very rare with full time school and two jobs lol). I have the cage designs worked out, but I need some advice on the best available methods for controlling temperature/humidity. I'll be using live plants and a mistking...
Wow, I really like the open top/plexiglass climbing barrier idea myself, I'm setting up a couple new cages this weekend and I'd like to incorporate that! Great idea!
If they are actually fruit flies, you'll need to starve them out and trap them, the simplest way to make a trap is to just put some fruit juice in a cup, and stretch saran wrap tight over the cup. make sure that all the sides are sealed, then poke little holes in the top of the saran wrap, the...
Yeah I just noticed it while misting him this morning, he still has his baby pattern and everything but his "beard" turned orange..maybe he's trying to be me lol! I want to post a picture but I'm not sure how to link it in the post from my phone
