My 7 month old Cham has been gaping a lot I've the past two days, his basking is 80-85 and low 70s in the ambient
There is no mucus in or around his mouth or crackling/popping sounds?
Today I found him clinging to the mesh under the basking lamp but and he was dark suggesting he needed more heat...
I did think that about the humidity and upper RIs!
His urates are as white as could be, when I first put him in his viv after picking him up he drank a lot in front of me but since then I've only seen him occasionally lick the vine he's walking on, I understand that sometimes they're shy about...
My panther chameleons viv drops to 55% humidity and rises to around 80 after misting, I've recently read that it should constantly be around 70-80 (with the correct ventilation).
I'm worried tht I'm not misting him enough because he hasn't shed yet and shows no signs of it soon (I got him on...
Thank God, thank you :D.
He is very adorable, I just handled him for the second time and he was quite calm. Also purchased him a HUGE plant so he can have a shower and bask in the sun!
Those photos were a few days old for Kath to see if she thought he had MDB, I'm going to post come photos of him today.
I've read a few times that vine hugging and gaping can mean he's too hot so I've lifted the basking lamp higher so the basking spot is around 85 degrees F instead of 90...
Ahhh my cham should be fine in his mesh viv then, I'll give that a good read thank you!
Thanks for the link Kath44, I'm going to order some straight away! I'm not aware that he does have MBD, i'll upload more photos to see what you think. I'm supplementing everyday with calcium, every 2 weeks...
He's a lot brighter now, and more active around his viv. The lamps I bought are Arcadia, I actually work in a pet shop so I might find out if we have something to measure the UVB output or if I can get one discounted.
He's in a mesh viv :) The doors are glass but the sides and top are all mesh...
Do you think he could be due to shed? He's been stretching his face a lot, do anyone else's chams go dark before sheddng? He's eaten 11 hoppers now! Definitely not off his food, who knew being a chameleon keeper would make me so paranoid :(
Thank you :( He's up and moving around now and he's had yet another hopper but I just have no idea because from what I can gather his set up is okay? Maybe lacking in greenery a bit :/
Over the past few days I've noticed my 7 month old male nosy faly panther to be quite dark in colour
I've just come upstairs now and he's lying/sitting on his branch very strangely and I'm quite worried?
He's the first reptile I've ever owned so I don't really know what to do.
I've noticed a few...
So with the d3 forest lamp is the positioning okay like this rather than suspended? I've just put a horizontal vine across but I'm going to try and fit a decent branch in there instead tomorrow :).
The vertical branch at the front right of the viv is actually in front of his basking spot so he...
That's what I'm worried about, I don't want him to get burnt but I've positioned the basking lamp so it's little further back from the vine that's going all the way up to the top of the mesh, he can still sit directly under it if he wants to but he's at a safe(ish) distance when he's on that...
I very very very rarely see my nosy faly male panther cham bask, the basking spot is averaging 86 with ambient 70 but he spends most of his time either at the far left, ambient side or a little forward of his basking spot on the right? Is this normal behaviour? He's quite dark when he's in the...
You should fill this in :) try her with hoppers in a feeding cup or waxworms in a shallow dish.

That's what I thought, it doesnt seem to be a mite though. That's the spot I'm talking about, I'm thinking a small burn from his basking spot or just pigmentation, I've noticed sometimes that his red spots will go black when hes basking. :)
Can chams get mites?
If so what are the symptoms and what do they look like?
I saw my panther rubbing his head on the wood earlier and thought nothing of it but I was just flicking through some photos I took of him and there's a speck on his chin. I can't decide if it's a mite, pigment or but a...
