My veiled still tries to hide everytime he sees me. I may need to try the mirror thing just to see if he colors up. His normal color is not too spectacular.
Glad I am not a big handler of my herps......
So I'm forceping a couple of roaches from their box into the container I dust in before feeding, and I see an "escapee" running across the counter.
I grab it with the forceps to return it to the roach motel, and I realize it is not in fact an escapee (obviously a different species).:p
Free...
My veiled is currently in the middle of a room with a dozen snake cages.
I never even seen him "turn sideways" to hide from any of them as he will do each time I enter the room.
Therefore, I don't think they bother him too much. ;)
Are you serious??
Where is that in the contest rules?
Did not know there was a cool kids club here or that ability to judge photos depends on post count.....
But thank you for the explanation.
Yep!! Hey, don't pick on my self collected roaches.......:D There are advantages of being a sloppy housekeeper!!
(Kidding, I caught them herping a couple of counties away)
After much helpful advice, I have my setup about finalized.
He is finally drinking(when I drown him a bit,"mist" is a figure of speech:D)and eating roaches set in front of him, but seems to have trouble finding the feeding station. I added a second small one after the photo right near the...
Name your Chameleons??
I have never named my reptiles(they don't come when you call them:p).
But from a couple of weeks browsing here, it seems the majority do name their Chams!
True??
If I go with the flow, I'm considering Marty Feldman......
even for myself. :)
So making up a fancy gutload recipe is unlikely!:o
And since I'm not sure I can get him on crickets, it does not make sense to mailorder yet.
So I would like to pick up something commercial locally. But there seems some conflicting info in past threads I've searched...
I wanted to start a new thread to avoid the WC/CB flaming....
My guy finally ate today.:D It is possible he had taken a few before, but I won't know for sure until I clean the cage tomorrow when I add the softliner.
But this evening I put one of my collected roaches on a branch near him. I...
Well, I did search : tap water. The search engine gave me 20 pages on "water" and told me tap was too short a word to be searched.:mad:Then I searched "tap water" in quotes and got zero findings.
So the site either needs a better search engine or I missed the instructions how to avoid this...
Finally got my guy to drink avidly last night using very hot tap water as recomended somewhere here. Before that I was warming the water bottle under hot water but using bottled spring water and I never saw him drink.
I always use bottled water for my herps since I'm an aquarist too, and we...
Getting back on topic:
For the first time I saw him actively drinking today and much less afraid of the mister. :) Hopefully eating is the next step!
Got the Softliner today,it looks like I have to take the cage apart to use it. :( I'll see if I can do so without too much stress. Then I...
LOL
Thanks, I'm trying. I have him set up as recommended now. I just wish he would settle down and eat. I did collect him some juicy wild roaches today during my herping trip, so we will see if he likes those better than the crickets and Superworms I have tried.
I did not realize they...
