I have my worms in a container filled about an inch with oats. Ive read alot of posts about them and would like to know of all the options what is the best substrate. The oats were a quick fix. Ill post a pic. I also give them veggies and use a salt shaker to sprinkle sandras dry gutload recipe...
I use the 66 qt sterlite container. I hot glue screen on all 4 sides. The egg crates are cut in half then they are glued together. This allows the crates to stand upright, the poo falls to the bottom, and since the are cut in half the crix cant jump out as soon as i take the lid off
My bugs are soon to be taking up more room than i do in my bed room.:-) i never would have thought getting a cham would expand to this!!! Im sure there are those that are even worse post pics!!!
Me too !!! I am still not confidant with the whole egg laying yet. Her bin only has moisy play sand. I had to hang her pothos over ir so some soil may have been jostled out.
She was shooting it. She only did it a few times. She didnt do it with the smaller bin maybe she was investigating it. She gets plain calcium everyday exept for the days she gets butters or silks and d3 and herpavite once every 2 weeks.
The bin is too big to fit in her cage with the plants. can i plant one in the bin on one side? It will still leave about a 1 ft width of just play sand.

Im confused as to how meal worms have to much chitan for the chams to have many, but they can eat these poky shells and all? Can someone explain for us newer folks please :-D
If im not mistaken, if its a female she should be getting 5-6 bugs a day, if its a male they can have more. This is because feeding the female less in combination with a basking spot at close to 80, keeps her from producing as many infertal clutches.

She is a young veiled cham, about 4 inches from nose to vent. She has several plants to hide in, her cage is exactly the same except for the lights. Is this something i should wait out or give her one of her old lights back?
