Can I use apple peels to feed crickets or is this no good for chameleons?

This is so sweet! I have a female blue bar ambilobe. Maybe 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 months old, but anytime I go near the cage to feed or mist, she takes off running to hide. Will this change? How do you train a chameleon to trust you? and when would you begin working on that?

It is not on the cage. It is lifted about 2 feet from the highest basking branch and I have levels of branches under the basking light. She closes her eyes when she goes under her hiding leaf which is on the other side of the cage from the basking light. This is the same place where she puts...

it's a zoo med thermometer strip that is placed at the back of the cage at the basking level.
