    Wild crickets?

A large reason why I feed off wild insects is for the extremely varied gutload that they naturally get that isn't easily replicated and that would take away that benefit.

    Wild crickets?

I recently noticed tons of wild crickets in my backyard and they look WAY more healthy than any cricket I have ordered or bought from a pet store. Thinking about feeding some wild crickets, anyone have any experiences doing this or a strong reason not to (not the usual it could have pesticides...

    Night thoughts about wasps...

I fed my chameleon a bee with the stinger, he ate the bee and got stung in the tongue. The stinger came out overnight and he refuses to eat any other bees. He ate other feeders that same day, just not anymore bees haha. I haven't tried a wasp, I assume it would be the same outcome.

Are all of the chameleons kept there males? Have you witnessed any social behaviours with them or do they just stay away from eachother? Do they perhaps confine themselves to their own personal territory of sorts to stay out of eachothers way? Are there multiple basking spots/feeding spots?

I know right? Haha. They act like I am physically abusing my chameleon because I played with his food/water intake for a month under close observation to see what behaviour changes he had. He's perfectly healthy and will live to a ripe old age I'm sure :D I think it's healthy to keep an adult...

How large is that enclosure, and how old are the chameleons in it? What gender are they? It looks pretty interesting I'd love to hear more about your experiences with that setup.

    Veiled chameleon outdoors, year round

In their natural habitat temperatures can reach up to 115 F in the sun, that doesn't mean it is healthy for them though and I wouldn't keep him in temperatures quite that high, but he handles 100-105 F well. His food/water intake is back up to the norm now, they were just upset that I did my...

You don't need to have the mister on for 4 hours because it's hot. You can just turn the mister on briefly to wet the enclosure as the evaporation will cool down the enclosure. You can repeat that anytime the enclosure heats up too much. Also, when the enclosure heats up too much I get a...

The stinger is already out of his tongue.

It is idiotic because mammals and reptiles have drastically different needs, feelings, and thought proccesses do not act like you know them, and I sure as hell don't either but it is clear that they are not the same. I didn't restrict his food so he could lose weight as you used in your...

    Veiled chameleon outdoors, year round

Comparing a reptile to a mammal is simply idiotic. Don't assume my intentions because you are completely mistaken. Why is temperature experimentation fine by you but food/water experimentation is not? Do you consider one to be a greater threat than the other? Or perhaps do you just...

All information comes from experimentation and research. I chose to do my own, rather than accept the general consensus.

What question was insufficently answered? Of course I can't provide a better picture, before you even requested it I had already said that I couldn't.

    Veiled chameleon outdoors, year round

I don't always wait for him to eat plant matter before feeding or misting him, I just learned to recognize that behaviour as an adaptation to compensate for less water/food. When I saw him doing that I upped his water and food intake. Just because the next guy feeds his obese chameleon 20...

    Veiled chameleon outdoors, year round

I have been nothing but honest and I didn't make this thread so that someone can interrogate my husbandry. Waldo is healthier and more active than ever and I did these experiments because I recognized the wealth of misinformation and obese chameleons over the internet and I wanted to learn the...

    Veiled chameleon outdoors, year round

There is absolutely no time of day where direct sunlight will hit any part of his enclosure? I'm not sure how high the UVB will be in the shade you are talking about, or if it will be enough and I would suspect a chameleon with no opportunity to ever bask wouldn't be mentally stimulated enough...

    Pygmys

Are there any pygmy species out there that tolerate higher temperatures such as the ones we get over here in southern california? I would really love to work with some pygmys in the future, but having no AC in my house makes it seem like it would be too difficult to keep temperatures low enough.

    Bees?

I'm sure that now that Waldo knows of the dangers from a bee he will be more careful with them if he does choose to eat them again, but I doubt he will eat them unless very hungry after getting stung on his first one haha. I will offer them again someday, maybe not soon though. I'll let you...
