    My two new rescues! (pics)

Yesterday morning we purchased a new subadult leopard gecko from craigslist. When we got there it was severely emaciated! They had purchased it for a Christmas gift for their daughter and she never took care of it of course. The second is an approximately 10 year old female ornate box turtle...

    homemade silkworm chow?

So the city cut off a huge branch from a mulberry tree at the end of my street and left it sitting there for a few day. I was able to strip it of leaves and got a couple of garbage bags full. It will go bad before I will be able to use it as i have not as of yet been able to find a way to...

I second oranges. For some reason they really seem to boost the breeding as well. Whenever I need to kick start my colony back up I give them oranges for awhile and it seems increase the reproduction.

Calling ladysilkworm and or other silkworm "experts"

My silkworm moth breeding project has been a success so far. I have been researching it quite a bit but have some questions. From my research I am finding that this diapause thing is not a clear cut as I had assumed. I went into it thinking that if the eggs turned dark they were fertile and...

    alternatives to drip systems?

thought i would post an update I went ahead and installed a drain. Drilled a hole a bit smaller then the diameter of air line hose and forced a length into it and cut it flush on the inside of the cage, that is now running into a container outside of the tank and lower. Works very well. I have...

Newly acqured F Jax - gravid and thin? Pics.

Thanks all. Yeah, the good new is she has a decent appetite. She ate some half inch crix dusted with calcium -d3 and a decent side dubia (what my wife and I would call a pre-teen :) ), snubbing silkworms though, just eyeballs it :( TLC is no problem in this house, we baby every one of our...

Newly acqured F Jax - gravid and thin? Pics.

This past Sunday I picked up a Female Jackson's from a local reptile show with some hopes of eventually breeding her to my male. She was Hawaii wild caught and in the previous owners care for 5 months. She is in quarantine and hopefully de-stressing in her new enclosure. The previous owner did...

    alternatives to drip systems?

I am thinking of an alternative for a drip system for drinking only - not for replacing regular sprays for humidity. Would an air pump and airline (with or without airstone) in an elevated bowl trigger a drinking reaction do you think? Im trying to find a way to keep the chams happy without...

    Cricket breeding

I just got my first batch of pin heads to hatch today! I used a mix of coconut fiber husk and sand. All of my previous attempts have resulted in nothing. The only difference is that this time I also mixed in some hydrated water crystals into the substrate. Left it in the cricket breeder box for...

Cool tip for fun and surprising food.

So I fed my Jackson's some reptiworms. Meh. He didnt have much intrest, too small and slow to illicit a response I guess. Well unbeknownst to me me several got into the soil of my cage plants (they feed on compost it turns out). About a month later Black Soldier flies were emerging on a daily...

cost effiency vs cham happines? food q/a

Dubias can climb screen enclosures but being roaches they are nocturnal, if you put them loose in the cage I find they hide within seconds and rarely get eaten. If you can train your cham to hand feed or cup feed then they are a great way to go.
