I'm assuming you went to the Links? Don't worry.. that price is only for the first visit.. it's cheaper for follow-ups.
Glad to hear he's okay and hopefully his fecals come back normal!
We're currently waiting on our next lil guy from Chroma.. already have a name picked out and everything! He's a blue bar ambilobe with some great genes!
In the future though, I'd looooove to get some pygmies.. and mellers (space allowing of course lol) gah.. I want so many!
That size cage sounds too big for a 3mth old cham. It might be better to start him off in a smaller enclosure at first and move him into that one when he's a bit larger.
If it is 94 degrees on a cool day, the hot days may be too much for him. Are you going to put the enclosure in a place where...
Ours throws white lines once in a while.. she's a pretty colourful blue bar ambilobe.
It's hard to tell when they're that young from the colours. We got her from a very reputable local breeder and because of her colours we've actually wondered a few times if the sexing was correct. She's...
Glad to hear he's doing better. The wheezing sound should be checked out though. We take our chams to The Links Animal and Bird Clinic in Toronto. Ask for Dr. Mavromatis (sp)
It never hurts to get a check up just to be sure!
Definitely sounds too big for a baby. You could probably use that sized cage at around 6mths or older but for a young cham it would most likely be way too hard for them to find their food and hunt effectively.
For the most part, as long as they can find their food easily enough, a large cage should be fine. That's generally the biggest concern with large cages so if you can be sure that it won't be an issue, I say go for it.
Great thread.. this whole project is really awesome.
It looks/sounds like it's pretty complicated. I love tree frogs but honestly don't know very much about them.. this just inspired me to learn more. I can't wait to see the progression of those little guys!
Yep, they can definitely be picky once in a while. Crickets are probably the ONLY thing Delilah doesn't get picky with.. she loves them.
I'd try not offering crickets for a little while, get some supers and silks.. your cham will most likely take crickets again soon enough. They just like to...
We had our little girl outside today on a ficus and it was clear that she was terrified of the birds flying around (there's a crapload of bird feeders in the backyard). After she snatched up a fly we decided to bring the cage outside. It's definitely best to keep them in a cage if there are...
I'm not sure if that's the best idea. Everything I've read suggests that you should only use captive bred feeders to be sure they have not come into contact with pesticides and other harmful things.
I know in the wild chams eat native feeders, but those chams have already been exposed to...
Hah! I know what you mean.. my little girl has a tendency to crawl on my face and sometimes they really dig in there.. it's not really painfull but I can imagine that it could be if she was bigger/stronger.
It might help if you wear gloves of some sort when handling him or only letting him...
If that is the only thing you're dusting with you need to get some other supplements. Pick up some calcium without d3 and calcium with d3. You might be overloading her using the sticky tongue all-mineral if you're dusting daily with that.
Lightly dust with calcium without d3 most feedings...
