My Chameleon Peach
My very first chameleon, Peach, went over the Rainbow Bridge this morning. Thank you for being such a wonderful, sweet lizard. I will never forget you.
I took her to the vet on Friday and x rays confirmed that she was egg bound. She was given a shot and I took her home. Saturday I brought her in for another shot, took her home and let her rest in her darkened cage, with the laying bin on the cage bottom. Saturday night I carefully peeked in...
"he will have no idea what is abnormal behavior right now.:)" If by "he" you mean "Me", I'm a woman. :)
I did start a hole for her. I covered her cage with a black trash bag, with a small place to peek in to see how Peach is doing. She's still eating and basking and mostly sleeping...
I feed her every other day--sorry should have mentioned that. I am a bit flustered right now. :) Off to put a towel around the cage and give her some peace.
I only wish covering myself with a towel will have the same effect on me.
I knew it I knew it I knew it--I meant to put together that bin weeks ago! Thank goodness I'm a gardener, so I had plenty of pots and organic potting soil at hand though!
She's only eating 4 crickets and/or 4 superworms now. Basking temp is 80 degrees.
Do I cover her cage so that it's...
The photo is of my ambanja, Peach. It was taken a few months ago.
This morning I found an egg at the bottom of her cage. She has never been mated. I quickly put together an egg laying bin (thanks to Dez' video!) and put it back in her cage. I am a total newbie to this egg laying thing...
Here is my Nosy Be, "Munch" today. (Dez, remember him?) He's so tame that he comes right out of the cage when you open the door. He'll take superworms from your fingers. I think he thought the camera was something to eat. That's why he's so close to the lens. He is an awesome chameleon.
I just received an overnight shipment of 1000 crickets. Despite being double boxed, they appear to be dead-all of them. I thought I read something about them going dormant in the cold, so I emptied the box into my regular cricket bin and put the bin near a space heater inside my chameleon...
I'm going to try to feed them some crushed up dog food. They do hide until it's dark. I'm glad all my chams are over 18 months old---big enough to take on these demons.
