Sorry I can't give you any specifics regarding the toxicity of mondo grass, but I doubt it would do well in an indoor cham cage anyway since it's not really considered a "houseplant". Most keepers use plants that are more suited to indoor growing; ie. Ficus Benjamina & Elastica Decora, Pothos...
I use Ficus Benjamina, Dracaena Marginata, Dracaena fragrans (Corn plant), Hibiscus, Monstera Deliciosa (cut-leaf philodendron) and Aspidista Elatior (Cast Iron plant) for "tall" plants in my cages. For bottoms, I like Elkhorn, Staghorn and Bird's Nest ferns, Coleus, and smaller pottings of...
If she doesn't show classic signs of stressing/distress/anger when handled then very good!
My own chams were not handled exept when necessary when they were young. They rarely displayed stress/anger then, but I found as they matured, their innate insticts kicked in and they became the grumpy...
Since stink bugs really do live up to their name, I personally would avoid them. The "musk" they release when threatened is their natural defense against predation, so they are probably quite distasteful. Not sure about their toxicity.
I live at the edge of a couple hundred acres of woods, so...
Wow
wow...wow...wow...and wow! It is just beautiful and functional and perfect! 'Nuff said. (as she shuffles off grumbling to herself how some people have all the luck and talented relatives! :) )
I agree with Will...get a male, no matter what species of cham you get. If the reptile show isn't until August, then you have plenty of time to put together a suitable environment, research the different cham species and make a decision. The set-up from LLL is just okay..the cage is too small...
I'm no help Lele, but excited for you and keeping my fingers crossed! How cool it would be for you to have 4 little blotchies! They're a pretty pair you have!
Hi, and welcome to the world of chameleon addiction! LOL
Although I hate to dissuade you from your decision, you might consider a captive-bred (CB) Veiled or Panther chameleon for your first. Most 4-horned chams (Quadricornis) that you find for sale will be wild caught. They may well carry...
Veileds do better with a temp drop at night. 76F is okay for nighttime, but even a few degrees cooler won't hurt. I presume that at 4-5 months old, you have them housed separately.
Your temps sound good, your screen cage is good, your lights are good.
Your waterfall is not good. Although she may drink from it, unless it is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a very regular basis, she may well be ingesting bacteria when she drinks. Feeder insects drown in them, fecal...
So pretty!
Lele's right...he actually has a very mellow fellow look on his face! I wish my Panther was that calm! Mines' more like...well, a panther! LOL
