Not nice to torment all of our friends in the cold zones all over the US and Canada :D I have my guy out in the sun up here in the Bay Area--it's so nice to get him out in the air and sun.
I am not a vet or a herp vet, and I have only had my first (panther) for a couple of months now--but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night, so here's my two cents.
You say he fainted and he died. Seems like he didn't exactly die. He did shut down like in a coma or having fainted...
Our current cat does this. We have weird cats. Our other cat taught herself to use the toilet. It is disquieting to walk down the hall, hear someone tinkling in the bathroom, wonder why they didn't close the door, and the see the frick'n cat hovering over the toilet doing her business!
Thanks everybody...you confirmed my thoughts on this. I have a wonderful vet who specializes in reptiles and exotic animals and I have taken him my leopard tortoise from time to time for check ups over the last 15 years, where he gets his beak trimmed, so there is at least something done when...
I have a 5-6 month ambilobe. Do any of you take your cham in to the vet just for a physical when there are no signs of a problem, just to be sure the little guy is, in fact, OK? Or would the trip there be more stressful than the benefit? Maybe just run a fecal instead?
Well there goes my Fast Times at Ridgemont High theory :) Forgive my lame attempt at humor Chris, just having a little fun there. I have probably read too many Far Side Cartoons over the years. :D I do appreciate science and scientists, and your work in particular, which I have been reviewing...
One of the chams has the common name "Strange-nosed Chameleon" Really? Strange-nosed? What the...was the biologist stoned when he named that one?:D Dude, what a strange nose on that one...why, I think I will name it the Strange-Nosed Chameleon!
I have been handfeeding a worm or two every couple of days, just because it is fun and I hope it helps build trust with and socialize my 5 month panther, Mr. Smokey.
I was holding a small hornworm for him this morning (he LOVES hornworms!) and he just missed and got my finger instead. The...
Can you explain the shower a little more? what is the plant hanging from? what is the water coming from? is the water direct or bounced off the wall to hit indirectly?
Newbie here…I have had my 4 month old ambilobe, Mr. Smokey, for a month now, and with my experiences and combing these forums, I already feel like a part of the community because I can identify with so much of what is discussed in one way or another. To all of you contributors, thank you so...
Clean How Often?
This is a good question: How often do people do complete cleanings? Is there concern with mold or bacteria build up in the plants? Do you use a disenfectant on the cage bottom or is that bad for the animal?
Got my first chameleon (4 month old Ambilobe--bright green and blue bars, with some red coming in underneath) a couple weeks ago and thought I would share my experiences:
I stupidly failed to unplug a ceramic heat emitter I had put on a cabinet and dang near burned my house down
As it was...
