Hornworms are digging in! How long now?(with pics)

This sounds like a great idea. I just got a bunch of hornworms. I'll just pupate a few and feed my oustalet some moths. Hopefully he doesn't get hooked on hornworm moths like he did on superworm beetles (he's only had 4 or 5 of those, but he flat out attacks them).

    Hamburg reptile show 2/27/10

Now that would be great! It does get packed, and in the warmer months it gets quite hot in the fieldhouse. Chuck G can attest to how hot it can get in there.

    Hamburg reptile show 2/27/10

I made it there. I usually go to almost every one, and I have to say I think it was the most crowded yet. Not only was that entire parking lot full as usual, but they had the school buses shuttling people back and forth from the school parking lot 1/10th of a mile away. So at any given time...

Sorry Whitespyder that I didn't respond quicker. I have been away for a few. No I used regular shipping with them. And looking at the forecast for the next few days after today's snow it's supposed to warm up here a bit so you should be good to go.

    shipping silkies in cold weather

I just happened to get my delivery from coastal this morning. 200 slikies and no fatalities. The heat packs still had a bit of warmth to them. I had them delivered to my office and the postal service dropped them off at 9am.

    cleaning mistking nozzles with clr

Hi everyone. I'm having an issue with calcium deposits in my mistking nozzles. When I did a search on cleaning the nozzles I saw several people that used c.l.r. on them. I picked up the c.l.r. but I have 2 questions before I get started... 1. Should I use a certain ratio of clr to water to...

    Bitten by a superworm!

I was going to say the same thing. After all the supers I've fed to my chams and other lizards I've never been bitten. Now hornworms are a different story :) pssh - did it leave a mark at all like a red spot or something?

    reptarium???????

I use both lll cages and reptariums. The lll cages are much easier to use and they are a lot sturdier. Reptariums have their advantages and disadvantages. Reptariums can be a bit harder to look through. I have heard some people say it can give the chameleon a somewhat larger sense of...

    Big Apple Misting System Question.

You can also try The Chameleon Kingdom. They're one of the sponsors, and they sell Mist King supplies but I believe what they have may be more than what you were looking to spend. But I just wanted to throw that option out to you. Also search the forum here for dyi misting system. There's some...

    Heat bulbs?

I happened to grab one of those 10 dollar Sunbeam space heaters today at Walmart. That heater is very small, but it does a great job. The temps in the enclosures are now a lot more to my liking.

    Big Apple Misting System Question.

I know Mist King is backordered, but I'd try to stick it out if possible and wait to get their starter package. It's an awesome and very simple misting system to use. If I'm not mistaken the pump that comes with the Big Apple sysem cannot run dry. I may be wrong, but the last I heard that...

    Spike Bit Me YES!!!

A male veiled bit me once. It didn't really hurt. It was just surprising. The thing that got me was it was the same week I get bitten by a 6 ft jungle carpet python in the forearm that required stitches, and also got bitten by a day gecko that drew blood on the same finger the same week. I...

    Plans for New Years?

Well since we're having freezing rain and sleet and the roads are horrible, I'm staying in, watching a hockey game, and hanging out with 5 of my friends. And by the end of the night all of my friends cages will be cleaned :)

What did YOU get for Christmas?

I got quite a bit of stuff this year. I got games for my Wii, psp, and ds, I got some cash that I'll be putting aside for the perfect mellers chameleon this year if one comes up, and probably the coolest thing I got is I'm taking a mini vacation for an 8 hour paranormal investigation at Waverly...

Power out! What will happen to my cham?

When our power goes out, which doesn't take a whole lot, I just fire up a generator outside and run a heater in the room. When the power is out we lose heat, phone, and hot water too. I had to deal with this a few times, so I invested in a small generator to keep a heater or two going. The...
