The cage I built is FINALLY finished and having the last touches put on now. :D
But now, I find that I need to get a holding/sunning cage for my fella. Since this cage doesn't need to be anything special, I wouldn't mind Reptariums or Explorariums or even a properly sized bird cage...
You can get plant bulbs in incandescent form almost anywhere... but other than the ZooMed Mercury Vapor UVB bulb, you can't really get a good one for under 18". I have a ReptiGlo (not as good as ReptiSun, but I use a 10.0 to make up for it) 18" over my BTS tank that I picked up at PetSmart.
For...
Lowes. It be great! I got a big bag of Organic potting soil there (filled two 10" hangers, 1 8" and a 12" with a bit left over) for only $5-7 or so. :) I've also gotten all my plants there, since the greenhouse manager is a great lady and a close friend. I nabbed a young Sheffelera for $3, and a...
Good thermometer/hygrometer combo = Acurite probed unit. (I use for all my snakes)
Good temp gun = Pro Exotics (PE) series. I have the PE1 and like it, but if I ever could, I'd get one with a better range. :)
YES! Well said, well said. :D It's surprising and upsetting how many people these days either can't grasp the concept of external heat regulation...or don't care. They want a cool looking animal for as cheap as they can get it - tiny glass tanks, analog thermometers, single low watt bulbs...they...
:D Oh, the green one is quite special. The snakes really like to stay close to it, so it helps keep them still for pictures. ;)
The Advil was there because a 3D object helps show how thick the larger pythons are...and, my BF took his dollar back. :p
Ok, got some nice updated pictures of most of them! Some even taken this evening. :)
Ball pythons:
Aranya (Spider girl)
Aurora (Pastel girl)
Zeus (Normal guy)
SunSpot (Pastel guy)
And the most recent shots of the corns. All taken this week.
Mystic (Ghost boy)...
UPDATE: Turns out I won't be using this cage after all :( And after all that work too... It just wouldn't stay stable enough with the door plan I was using.
So, I shall just use 1x1 wood that I already have laying around and a good latex-based paint to seal it and build a nice wood/screen...
Oh, I hear the space thing... I just had to rehome two snakes to make up for the space the cham and the BTS will take up. :)
And... I just want him! I've got all the stuff sitting here in a box and no finished cage to put it all in. :( I have pictures up of the unfinished cage BTW... in this...
Ooo... just what I need! But if I got one of those from you, Chad, I'd have to get it first, set it up, THEN get the sweet veiled boy from you! :D
Heck, doing it that way might be faster! :p
The panels are really great, and with the screen outside it gives the cham something to grab other than the tiny screen holes while climbing, thus (hopefully) reducing the chances of toe injuries.
I know that BedBath&Beyond sells them for about $15 - 16 grids per set- since that's where I...
:) I've been meaning to call you about that mister to double check which connections should be replaced. If you just let me know via PM, that should be enough.
As for the 'lights'... :) Those aren't lights, those are PVC tubes attached to the inside top of the cage for stability and for...
No, that's not cheap. I paid $14 for each set, which contains 16 panels I believe. :)
The first one is really nice...but too big. One of my biggest drawbacks to CLing is that I don't have transportation. Unless they would be willing to deliver it, I couldn't get it. I'll email and ask, of...
Same here...there aren't many good cages offered up for sale on CL or otherwise around here. Believe me, I've looked. :) And that $50 cage on LLL is almost another $50 for shipping! Not something I can afford for just one item when I can build with materials already here.
I already had about...
That is exactly what I made my cage out of. :p
Mine, however, is 2 squares by 4 with an 8" space underneath for a drainage tub. The interior dimensions are 28x28x48, exterior are 29x29x56.
You shouldn't use the connectors that come with the kits to put it together as a cage, though...
