I cut a board (1x1/2) 18 inches long to go across the top of the cage and painted it black to match the cage. I then ran a hook from inside through the screen to the board and then used a chain to get it where I wanted it. It cost about $5.00 at Lowes.
I havebeen setting up my enclousre for the last six weeks and I think I am ready for the male Jackson that I have been setting up for. I have the basking temp between 80-85 during the day and 65-70 at night (no heat or lights) and a 5.0 UVB. I have two large Pothos with clean, covered soil and...
I use bamboo and jungle vines. I like the bamboo because of the flat ends that are easy to thumb tack through the screen cage and it is cheap and availble year round. I also have two pothos, one high, one low with vines running through them. I do have two fake plants at the back to fill in the...
I am in the process of getting a male Jackson in the next few months. I have been doing research and slowly putting my enclosure together, just started doing test runs on the dripper and the heating, everything is good so far. I have owned reptiles for years and I have always wanted a true...
Pet Supplies Plus in my area sells crickets in a box that has a small door built into it and the box also has food/water built into it. I have used them when I travel for other reptiles. Makes caring for herpes easy buy people who don't normally take care of pets like these. I would make it...
Thanks so much for sharing. My dream is to take a trip to Africa after I graduate from Art school. I dream about areas like the one that you are lucky to call home. Take care and keep the photos coming.
I am almost done setting up my first enclosure and I wanted to give the dripper a trial run. I filled it up and opened the valve and I noticed that it is pooling on top of the screen. So my question is should I run it through the screen or just fine tune the dripper without making a hole in the...
Cool shot! What kind of photography do you specialize in? I am currently working on degree in digital photography from the Art Institue on Indianapolis. Can't wait to own my first chameleon model.
I bought mine at Lowes. They looked more natural to me than the craft store variety, plus they are cheaper there as well. All the big box hardware/garden stores have them. I found them at my local store in the middle of a Indiana winter so you should be able to find them.
Solid answers. As for the type, it is the classic little dripper from Zoo med. I now need to figure a way to hang it slightly elevated over the enclosure, any ideas?
I am setting up my first enclosure and I was playing around with the dripper setup today.I am trying to decide if I should cut the screen and run through the hole or just go through the screen on top? I no it is silly but I have a virgin cage and I am having a hard time cutting it. Wanted to get...
Do people sucessfully breed these in captivity? They seem to pop up in the local shops and all are wild caught. Saw mating pics but could find no one selling captive breed Senegal's. Just wondering. Thanks.
Weather has been crazy warm here lately, got into the 60's last week. Got out a pole and tied on a roadrunner and hit one of the retention ponds in my neighborhood and caught a largemouth in February! Had snow and ice on the pond here last week. Love smallmouth and largemouth and bluegill also.
Is their a better brand of UVB 5.0 CFL? I have noticed that there are many to choose from and sometimes the price can be very different, so which brand is the best.
Has anyone ever used this fixture? I really like the clean look of the fixture and that I can do both heat and UVB in one device. Want to make sure that this is adequate for a 18inch wide screen cage. What is best for the Cham is what I ultimately want so that will be the final factor in the...
What about the fixtures that are heat on one side and UVB on the other? That is really what I was looking at. I like the clean lines of having a single fixture on top of the cage. But I care more about what would be best for the animal.
