I have a sub-adult Jackson (10-12 months old). He has been eating alot lately and I wonder if I should stop a a certain point or should I keep feeding him if he keeps eating? He ate 10 medium/large crickets today and a few small mealworms and two wax worms as a treat. Is this OK?
I got a new 5.0 UVB linear bulb to replace my CFL 5.0 bulb that I started with. I was wondering if I should/could keep using the CFL to give extra UVB to another part of my Jacksons enclousre without causing him any problems?
My Jackson is about 10 months old and his staple food is crickets. He won't hardly eat Dubia roaches, he does get a few wax worms a week as a treat, but I would like to try some other feeders. Wondering what is the best health wise to consider adding to his diet. Nothing to complicated, I only...
I switched my UVB to a from a cfl to a 18" tube and this seems to helped. Also made the prime basking spot a little harder to get to, still very easy, so that it forced my guy to move a little more.
Carmel, Indiana. Just north of Indianapolis. Retired from the Army, been all over the world. Love North Carolina, Germany, Bahamas, fishing in Canada! So many great places, Iraq not so nice, do not want to go back there.
My guy is only a nice green when he is streesed! Otherwise he is a darkgreen and grayish brown mixture. Granted I have only had him for two weeks. I am hoping that as he becomes more comfortable his coloring may change but if not as long as he is healthy I will love him no matter what color...
I have 2 large fake plants at the back of my guys enclosure and that is where the lucky crickets always go. I go in there every few days and drive them out for my little man. Is there something that I could put in that would attract the stray crickets?
Will the 18" Arcadia light work in a regular fixture that I am using now? Do they sell a complete setup with a 18" light/fixture? Really want to switch after watching this.
How and how often do people clean cool mist humidifiers? I have hard water and I am afraid that the deposits could have negative side effects on my Jackson's. I think I should use purified water but that would not be practical. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
The zoo in Cleveland has a rain/storm simulator that has reptiles in it. They rotate different animals on the island but they all seem to take little to no interest in it. There are reptiles all around it also fair very well. It is in the rain forest exhibit, might be able to find it online...
Great news. Always nice to hear about new additions. Also congrats about school. I am about three qtrs. away from being done myself-can't wait. Enjoy your new buddy.
Make sure you are ready to go before you make any purchase! I would have the two enclosures up and running before any pets are bought. Plus you really need to research these guys before you take the plunge. They would not fair to well outside in Arizona. If you are really ready then go for it.
That sounds like my guy to a tee! Only really eats food that I put in front of him. (prefers crickets) Only stays in 20% of his cage 90% of the time (close to basking light). His basking temp is 78 to 82 degrees. I have never seen him in the bottom part of his enclosure. Hoping with time he will...
I have had my male Jackson for 10 days and he is all over the place with eating and drinking. He will not eat out of a cup, seems scared of the cup. Will only really eat crickets that free range in his general area ( he doesn't move much),got him to take a few roaches. He is eating 4 - 6 medium...
It works best to place the cage over something that is easily drained. First you don't want wood sitting in water, will rot in no time! And I found out that a tray alone is not that good, you have to move the whole cage to drain excess water. So I found you need easy to drain water that is not...
Thanks so much. If it was not for this awesome forum this would be so much harder! There are probally thousands of much better raised and healthier pets because of this place. Thanks again. Time to do a little shopping.
