Emma has been showing receptive colors in recent weeks and now that she's a year old and Nolan is 14 months old, I decided it was time to put them together. I was very fortunate because they immediately consummated their pairing! I got a couple of shots of them together, one with a flash and...
I have purchased about 10 neonates from someone who received WC adults, of which a female gave birth. The person was not comfortable raising babies and had them up for sale. So, I'm looking at it more as a rescue, as this was not a species I had specifically intended to acquire. I'll post...
I agree with Ferret. The thickness of the dirt didn't register with me before. That much dirt limits the vertical space for them to climb. It'd be better to remove at least half of the dirt. You can still slope it, but just remove a few inches across the whole bottom.
Yes, unless it has harsh ingredients. I'd avoid anything with formaldehyde because that takes a long time to fully offgas since it is not a volatile as solvent compounds.
What kind of lid will you use? Pygmies like humidity, so I wouldn't recommend a screen lid. I'd use a glass lid with some ventilation, such as the hinged aquarium lids with the plastic strip along the back. You can either drill holes in the plastic or cut out a section and glue a piece screen...
For all my dart frog vivaria, pygmy chameleon vivaria, or any wet components, I either use silicon or Gorilla Glue. Gorilla Glue is made of the same compound as Great Stuff, but it isn't pressurized, so it doesn't expand much. It will expand slightly though. The main advantage of Gorilla Glue...
I purchased this female T. werneri about 6 weeks ago and she appears to be gravid. She looks like she might pop any day. Since she was WC this year, is there a particular timeframe when the females give birth or is it just seasonal? Also, are there any indicators to look for that she is ready...
When I ship animals, I include one or two Phase 22 panels to moderate temps. They cost about $6 each, but are well worth it. I've shipped very temperature sensitive dart frogs in hot and cold weather and have never had any problems when I used the Phase 22 panels. I also recommend that people...
My Brevis do this if I pick them up to examine them, but not if they are perched on my hand. It's probably a defense mechanism to startle a predator that grabs them in the hopes the predator will drop them.
That's a great picture! Thanks for sharing. We'll continue to keep you both in our family prayers. Chronic pain is a tough road, to say the least. I hope the nerve treatments will work and will specifically pray for that.
Very cool video. Some folks think roaches are pretty (not me), but they're all insects. Besides, it seems so much more natural when the chams eat something other than a standard feeder. I'm sure the variety is good for them too.
