Thanks for the advice Mike and Kent. It's very appreciated. The black on her is her coloration. I'm guessing it was from the stress of transport, cause it's slowly going away. I'm not 100% sure though. I'm treating the male this weekend, but with the female, should I wait until she's laid her...
Yeah, thanks Mike! I'm glad someone verified that for me. That's what I figured and she's very very plump. She's only been in Captivity for two weeks too... we'll see what happens. I've looked around quite a bit, but can't seem to find breeding and incubation information on them. Do you have any...
Thanks, I'm really taken with these guys. Their temperament is good, they're a bit on the shy side, but they're really docile for the most part. Couldn't be happier with them.
Thanks for the comments, I'm really digging this new camera of mine...takes really nice shots, but it helps when you're targets are the cutest freaking babies ever! But seriously, you'll be seeing more pictures of them. They're a joy to photograph.
You're not supposed to put MVB's that close to the cage anyways. The light needs to be at least 12" away from where the Chameleon can reach. I have 9 different Chameleons in 9 different Flexariums, and don't have a problem. I have never had a problem. Of course I like my aluminum cages better...
If that's a Flexarium or reptarium, those things don't burn as well as people say they do. I have up to 100W spot bulbs sitting on top of mine, and the most that will ever happen is a discoloration. Turns a bit yellow. We've actually TRIED to melt those things, and it takes quite a bit.... I...
Don't forget people that growth CAN be stunted. If he's from a typical pet store, then yes, it's more than likely that he's 4 months old. And the same growth rate does not apply to each individual Chameleon.
Good luck with the little one.
The males have a small spur at the back of their hind foot. Very very tiny spur when they're this young, but it's there. Still, I'm not sure if I was 100% on sexing them!! The temps and humidity were whatever my house is for incubating. Which ranged in the 70's in the day, really not that much...
Oh yes, the feeding is crazy. But nothing unusual here. This is just an extended season for me here is all. We've been feeding baby beardies, geckos, and snakes all year. I don't mind the feeding. Plus, I love watching it.
I'm keeping them in Serilite tubs, bare bottom, lots of foliage, but not...
Oh I'm not going to have a problem. There's 48 now, 2 still pipping, I know I don't need 50 Veileds! I'm holding 5-8 back, and that's it! The rest can go when they're a couple months old! :D
I'm going to try and get a video of the little ones eating. We'll see.
Thanks for the lovely comments guys! I'm thrilled with them, oh, and there's 43 out now.
Here they are. Here are the little ones out an about. There's 29 so far, 12 males and 17 females. Still have another 28 eggs to go, so we'll see!
And a couple size comparison pictures on my stained fingers! (Damn Ketchup Chips)
There are 18 out now, I'll take some pictures of them tonight, I just can't get over how damn cute they are, mind you, anytime that anything in my house hatches, I say the same thing, but I think these ones really take it for cuteness. All in the big alien eyes!
Thanks for the comments guys...
