    Ahhh, water!

I have to second that, i really don't understand the reasonings to WHY they react the way they do around water. Maybe they hide under leafs when it rains??? I have no idea...

    Housing Question

How were you gonna keep the air circulated? I'm only wondering because using a fan or creating a draft isn't good for your cham. Also it does sound like your trying too hard with the humidity. You should have the ambient humidity (when you're not misting) at about 40-50%, WHILE misting the...

Owning a chameleon is a long term investment when it comes to cost. $200 may get you up and running, but your going to need more money for feeders, continous food for your feeders, supplements when they run out, replacement lights when they burn out, and vet visits that can potentially cost over...

    Bit her Tongue Off

Nothing....its reccomended you don't use any substrate. Others may suggest newspaper or paper towel....but i don't use any substrate, I generally clean any poop when i see it, or do a search of the enclosure every other day.

    Bit her Tongue Off

thats strange....One of my females once shot her tongue out and was unable to retract it for about a minute, but no problems after that.....maybe she got it stuck to something...like a big piece of substrate....im clueless to be honest. Lets hope she hand feeds, i've heard of owners doing it...

    Cham rescues

as much as i agree with you, i don't think it would be possible for 2 reasons; 1. Most people don't empathise with reptiles, just like most people don't have emotional attachments to fish. This forum is a great exception to this though. 2. The care a chameleon, let alone a sick/rescue...

    Bit her Tongue Off

I would get her to a vet ASAP. How did the tongue get bitten off? was there any bleeding?...regardless, i think a vet is ur best choice. Other then that, u can make bug mush, pretty much blending up some crickets or worms and feeding it to her with a syringe or something similiar. A vet visit...

    Need help now please

You only show signs of sanity, and i commend your courage and compassion towards your cham. I assure you, your pain and love does not go un-noticed. A death of a cham triggers a dark moment for many users on this forum, you are not alone. Stay strong.

    Help on My Chameleons name.

anything, be creative!! the best names are the ones you come up with yourself. You wouldn't want us naming your newborn child would you? (most treat their chams like their babies anyway : P )

    Just a general question?

I have to agree, many users, including myself may seem a bit mean, or aggressive when giving advice, but you have to understand, most people could care less about YOU, but what they do care about is your cham, and are giving you advice to better your cham, not yourself. Please take all...

    Just a general question?

"but i feel bad for him being in a cage all day. And if i aint home all day and he hasn't gotten out he gets all mad when i came home and take him out." You can't let human conditioning take control of the way you raise your cham. He isn't a dog and doesnt need walks outside. If you feel he...

    Just a general question?

Moving your cham out of his enclosure 3 times a day in MY opinion is excessive and should be cut down to once, to twice a week. Most chameleons will tolerate handling, but never enjoy it. Handling will only decrease his life span. I would also look into changing that bulb, it will make him...

    Graceful information plz

When your misting, fill the bottle with hot water. Then extend your bare arm as far as you think your cham will be from the spray and test how warm the water is when it hits your arm. If it isn't too hot your fine. From there, you can mist ABOVE your cham making sure YOU DO NOT SPRAY HIM...

"and UVB bulb, (not tube)" You should be using a Tube as bulbs cause blindness and other eye comlications. That is the most reccomended tube on this forum. I would replace your bulb ASAP. "Supplements - I use zoomed Calcium with D3 once a week and zoomed repti-vitamins without D3 once a...

    screen cage?

If you heat your house to regular room temps, you should be fine. I live in ontario, with pretty cold winters, -15 C and stuff. my house gets to about 21c through heating, and all i have is a large garbage bag on the back of the screen cage, and 2 heat bulbs. Im using a 2'x2'x4' screen cage...

    Wild caught insects?

I'll be doing the same thing, but it's a good idea to breed the grasshoppers you find, rather then constantly removing nature from a preserve.
