what you mention about the temp is a slight problem indicator....
preferably you want the temperature to be a Constant 85F with a one or two degree variable. If its sinking to 81F during the day or getting passed 88F (with the animal being young), then that it called a temperature swing and...
Any time I have seen males introduced to females of another species I never one saw a head bob or suitable coloration..... usually a threatening stance and angry coloration....
But I agree that it would be foolish to say they would "never" be interested.
I just think it would be...
As Stated, the "glass reflection" theory is a total myth that has no evidence to be proven anything else. I would suggest however, keeping the cage away from any mirrors in the room, there eye sight is incredible for a creature so small.
Also as stated, people should read a little more before...
Firstly the panthers would have no interest in the female veiled, secondly its more probable they would attack her than even attempt to mate.
Secondly, no you cannot mate a Panther with a Veiled, with under the Chameleon Genus - Pardalis (panthers) and Chameleo ( veiled ) are two different...
Hmmm.... I was unaware of that....
I spoke with a petco employee ( "reptile specialist" ) and he told me that their store has been breeding their own colony for a while now.... apparently some managers idea that took off...
Im not sure if many other petco's do it.... but they continue to...
Nikon Cool pix or a Sony Cyber shot - top notch cameras ( for point and shoots ) and not that top notch price setting, though they are not "dirt cheap"
you could also purchase your mother a digital picture frame, which simply requires a USB stick or SD card plugged in and it will start...
My question:
Many of you are talking about direct cricket suppliers being infected, but what about the local pet stores such as petco/petsmart? any news of them getting hit?
If they are not having reports of this outbreak, perhaps then it might be wisest to pony up the extra $$$ and get...
Hello,
Just thought that for the sake of the members I would make this little post to make a reminder of safe practices on the internet.
I will admit that I have made some of the mistakes I will mention below, and many of you have as well - however It sometimes takes a lesson well learned to...
I think caring about the animals is important, but knowledge is more important.
No one wants a under qualified vet - especially in a field as specific as reptiles, where efficiency and superiority of the field means a higher customer retention rate :P
Being "over qualified" would probably...
On contrary...I like the coloring.... and Syn its called Depth of Field, not blur. :P
I think though you might want to try the shot again with a different white balance, I assume your chameleon is under the normal Basking and UVB combo - which makes pictures hard because of the confusing...
Hehehe, I really wasn't sure what word to use there mate.... insect terms elude me.
Thank you for the information though.... the 7 day life span is not SOOOOO bad if you feed them off quickly ( after mating preferably :P )
Diet and nutritional value are my biggest concerns....
I am...
Merrr.....
very nice!
do you know how hard it is to have them reproduce? and the "gestation" time from caterpillar to moth? Can you feed the caterpillars to chameleons? How many caterpillars would you expect?
..... any links to information such as this would be great...
Im looking...
Kent,
What you talking about... is what I think happened at Mulberry Farms, am I correct?
Literally the same day I decided to order in bulk I went to their site, went to place my order - page reloaded, BAM - crickets suspended.
Local pet stores don't seem to be having much of a supply...
YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering if there were any other Azure babies on the forums :)
My basil is close in age to yours :) Only around 10 months though, HESE A STUNNER!
the purple is coming in nicely on him and his eyes are fascinating.... but then again his daddy is to die for...
As stated, those basking temps are too hot. you will want the max to hit about 85 (since they are juvi's correct?) at maturation basking temps @ 88 is acceptable, but don't go higher than that.
I would go ahead and say, you are using TOO much UVB. One reptisun 5.0 positioned properly along...
If he is 11 months old as you say,
Then I would consider bumping his basking temperature up to 90F. That SHOULD give his metabolism a little boost and may incite him to eat a little more than he currently is.
Please make sure that you properly measure these temperatures and that it does...
I am no familiar with Parsons, so do not take this as absolute...
but with most other species of chameleons, especially when kept indoors it is important to use a calcium supplement that contains no D3.
Repcal makes a version of this ( the green tub ). And I *THINK* that it may be...
