I second Chamaeolo, but ide go further and recommend Calyptratus.
Veiled Chameleons LOVE it hot, and their natural habitat is known for its temperature extremes. Now Im not saying to just put one in the sun (110+ F.) all day.... but I think a cage half in sun half in shade - with an excellent...
The key is just letting them see whats going on at all times, that way the are calm and wont feel spooked by a random monster hand randomly grabbing them.
Though if you have a chameleon that just doesnt like you or being held, then your S.O.L. But if your chameleon will tolerate just move...
Firstly you should fill out the how to ask for help form located as a sticky on the health clinic forum.
Moss in general is not a good item for chameleon cages, mold would indicate bacteria which may have been inhaled by the animal and results in a respiratory infection.
Though he could...
Welcome to the forums!
Dubia are a great choice of feeder!
but for chameleons, variety is usually the best thing possible.
Some good feeders:
Crickets-staple
Dubia & most any other roach- staple
Silk worms- Staple/treat
Horn worms- treat
Super worms - treat
of course there are...
ahhhh the great mystery :)
What uve seen on the internet, never take at face value.
Yes chams have been mixes and sold as pure breds, and yes collectors mistake WCs for other locales all the time.
There was this big issue going around with the Nosy Be's years ago.
People were selling...
Thanks for the Parsons pics!
i was so curious about those guys at the show!
does anyone know who the owners/sellers were?
I was looking at the torts on top of their cage when I looked down and im like "GASP!" "Parsons?"
you would think that for the price they would be kept like...
I think the grass would be okay... as long as its well kept and in organic soil.
The tree needs to go. It definitely looks like the "money tree", which as stated above is toxic if digested.
replant it with a schef, or a nice big ficus, and I think it would be okay.
Well the show had terrible lighting inside... and I did not want to use flash and spook every single animal in the vicinity..
But I did get a decent shot of Dr. Gonzo :)
YUP :)
but not on chams, for my two little leopard torts.
I can say it seriously helped them to get over it, though they started it after both receiving baytril shots.
Cham wise I gave it to mine when they were acting kinda funky coming out of winter. Reptaid gave them a big pickup...
First off....
Why members here constantly have to flame each other in public postings is getting somewhat ridiculous. Either keep it to yourself, send your quarrels through private messages, or find some other way to keep your internet rampages off of public parts of this site...
The Entire...
im thinking you got a chameleon that in likelihood is part nosy be.
yellow lips sure are nosy be... but im thinking those oranges marking on his face when he fired up means nosy be is just a part of the puzzle.
my guess?
Nosy Be X Ambilobe
he could be 99% Nosy Be, but that 1% results...
2x2x4 is actually a great size cage for most chams.
You can house size wise up to big boy panther (sambavas anyone? :) ) or a burly veiled chameleon,
but even a jackson's would admire the space were he given it.
However thats gonna be cutting it close for oustaletti (sp) and it would be...
not sure what Ill be buying yet (Except supplies of course :) ) but ill be there...
Def gonna be buying the boys their adult cages... but well see what goes down cham wise
outback... not so much though, lmao.
The problem is you cannot really expect anything
While no chameleon is "ugly" some crosses come out "better" than others.
I have seen some beautiful AmbiNosy's... and others that were less stunning.
When cross breeding (which many members here are against, but really its your choice so...
that last link is the perfect kind to be twisted :)
I use that method for my Sambava and Ambanja, and they love it because it lets them hold on easier (more footholds) and they sometimes travel on it upside down when hunting the elusive roach.
your gonna have a lot of fun with your cham...
One thing I would suggest is getting four more bendy vines
take two and twist them together (my chams love this)
so now uve taken four and made two with varying thicknesses
take the first and wrap it "around" and "inbetween" the plant, making little chameleon high ways. Secure it...
welcome :)
Glad to hear you have done the prior research and thus have some good knowledge before getting your cham.
The pictures look like an Ambilobe, which are beatiful :)
Which breeder are you purchasing from?

hehe, thank you :)
and thanks for all the nice words!
for a purple bar ambanja he doesn't show much purple (except in the morning when his is totally purple barred, or when I rile him up with my spray bottle atrocities (aka misting) ).
