I have a 5 month old male veiled who I have had for 6 weeks or so, he is gentle and comes out daily of his own will, he has even taken to sitting at his door and waiting for me to open it so he can climb out either onto me or onto a plant at the side of the cage. He hand feeds and is possibly...
kevin, my veiled turned his nose up at crickets about a month or so ago. I give locusts, butterworms and wax as a treat, have just ordered some silkies and cant wait to try them.
My 4 month old veiled is blooming at the moment but I wondered if eating too much kale could be a problem ?
He eats locust about 6-8 a day as he wont touch crickets but he has suddenly decided he really enjoys kale and lots of it !!!!
Wondered if too much could cause loose stool (as in...
Good luck on Thursday, cant imagine what your feeling, hope things go your way and Tommy will be just fine cos he has a wonderful home to go back too

Kevin is my veiled and am new to the cham world, familiar with snake sheds and their tendencies as we also have a snake !!!!!
Just wondered how long it normally takes for a cham to shed he started on sunday evening and by monday he looked like a snowman :) but he still has a powdery looking...
Just a few questions........
How long does a shed take? Kevin is still flakey like a real dry skin (big bits came off first day) so 4 days later he seems to still be shedding
Should the shed have come off in one or is it normal for Kevin to have rubbed the large flakes off on branches in...
Ok and 5 days into the shed and still some of his body is covered and one side of his face :(
I can see some pretty awesome orange colours coming out
Been spraying keeping the humidity up but he seems quite happy to walk around half shed, is this normal ? How long does this normally take?
Hi I am also fairly new to the forum and also from the UK :)
Welcome and am sure you will get all the knowledge and advice as I have from this friendly place
I have been a cham owner for just 2 1/2 weeks and think I am settling into routines and things now but I noticed Kevin (cham) being a little grumpy and withdrawn yesterday but I awoke this morning to his first shed in my care!!!!
This probably isnt exciting for most of you experienced guys but...
your so very right in what you say, I am hooked already :)
We have a ball python too which we have had for 18 months and tropical fish and a dog and 2 children!!!
The snake is my husbands who thinks or rather thought he had the most fascinating of pets even when I was researching chams, but...
your all so kind and I am grateful for everything I just want this to work because at the moment I feel I am worrying instead of enjoying.
suppose its early days for us as I have only been doing this for 2 weeks and in time I guess I will be able to read his body language/quirks, well hopefully...
ok thanks, I just want to do my best for him, he is the most amazing and fascinating creature I have had the pleasure to observe.
Think maybe I have read and researched far too much and feel confused with conflicting advice :(
Never meant to be rude or ungrateful
Yeah was aware that I can over feed as suggested Eisentrauti which is why I ask "how much is too much?" and yes it is my task as a keeper to work this out but in the mean time I will take the advice of miss lily and maybe work towards the next size up and give a mixture of bugs.
Think I will...

I have a 3-4 month old veiled who I have had for 2 weeks now.
Would really like to know how much food is too much ?
Will he stop when he is full?
Yesterday and today he has eaten between 16 and 20 half inch locust and still seems to wait for more. He has a feeder with veg but is...
