These guys are one of my favorites! Nice sized Salamander with cool coloration. The black is much more vibrant on them than the pic shows.
I found 18 different species last year but was only looking in a few spots and didnt go out as much as I plan on this year. Along with what I found I...
Its a male no doubt. Yes, they can. Both can at that size. Females tend to keep the dots on the cheeks while males end up going away or turning into their adult colors.
Oh, but there is:D If it is Kinyongia multituberculata that is;)

Just as the article says. Large cage even though they are only a medium sized chameleon. They are very active!
Ambient temps in the 70s and 85 basking in the daytime with at least a...
Was rainy and in the 40s last night so I hit the road to see what I could find. Went to a new spot with a lead from my dad saying he saw a Spotted Salamander out there YEARS ago.
My one camera is at a friends house so I took my old one but I forgot to put the memory card in it:o Had to use the...
Yes, you need a lot more in that enclosure! A nice schefflera would fill it out well with some sticks. LOTS of humidity. 70% and higher humidity, ambient temps in the 70s and a basking site of around 85 should do. She definitely looks chunky! She also looks very nice for a WC.
That is a good thought, Shauna. This happens a good bit I think. This is why I like using bags instead of deli cups. The heat can build up quickly in the box and even quicker in a deli cup.
I agree, that cham was sickly when you got it The size doesnt look too bad for shipping but as was said, it should have weighed more. That is a bummer:(
Its a shame that a breeder can even think of selling a cham in that shape. The price these animals go for they should be perfect. Even if it...
Sounds like that would be good for Ambystoma, Al!!! Now wait for night temps in the 40s and raining and get out there!!!:D
Also, if anyone wants to post pics of their finds from this year in this thread feel free!!
Mouth rot. If you just got him I would notify the breeder. Animals should not be sold that way. Its going to take a trip to the vet to clear up and that is going to be expensive. You either want to exchange him quickly with the breeder, let the breeder know so they can compensate/take him to the...
Sweet! I love me some salamanders:D
Unfortunately I dont. I havent seen a Copperhead in years and have never seen a Timber Rattler. Those are the only two venomous species we have around here. I know of some sites to go find them now, though so I hope to find both species this year.
Thats a...
Nice! The Blue Spotted sallies are really nice looking. Not sure what the weather is like for you but in the 40s and raining at night in the spring go back to that spot and you should be able to find a ton of them! Im hoping to find more snakes this year but my goal is 30 plus different species...
I will be updating this thread throughout the year so keep checking in!
Here are a few of the animals I have found so far this year. This is my passion now and if I ever sell the two chams I have I probably wont be keeping any at least for a while. I have much more fun going out finding...
