    Alternatives to crickets and locusts

I'm going away for a couple of days and although I have some pygmy carers coming in to check on them and humidity, I am not confident they will be good at feeding them. I wonder if there is some food that can be kept in the vivarium in enough numbers to keep the pygmies well fed for a few...

Just add crickets or monitor the amount?

Thanks I didn't think they would do that, they are just very tiny silent crickets.

Music video with Pygmy (locust snuff movie)

Thanks, I was hoping for a longer tongue strike, her tongue can sometimes extend about 6 inches, ie about three times her body length. How do they do that???

Just add crickets or monitor the amount?

I was wondering if it's Ok to just add a dozen or so crickets to the vivarium, or should I add them one or a few at a time when the chameleons appear hungry? In other words, might they overfeed? The two females seem a bit fat (but may be they are expecting) and the male seems a bit skinny...

Music video with Pygmy (locust snuff movie)

I write music for a living so I thought it would be fun to put one of my tracks to this. Doesn't look like it's possible to embed video, so here's the link: http://youtu.be/7rAmaX6Yxxg

    Woodlice

Many thanks. So do you think if I find a pregnant woodlouse the babies will be OK re: heavy metal or should I wait a further generation. The woodlice are from my compost heap which is mostly organic, we don't use weedkiller or fertiliser so maybe they would be OK anyway do you think? Thanks

Need to improve on the starter kit: new vivarium

I got a Pygmy Chameleon starter kit from a supplier, thinking it would be ideal, however after some research here it seems it's not exactly right. Tank is 18" x 18" x 18" and I have two ladies and a gentleman (Chardonnay, unnamed so far and Trevor) 1) The kit just included tropical substrate...

    Woodlice

Ah, so if I collected some babies and bred those, they'd be safe(r) ? This sounds good. I'll check out your blog.

    Woodlice

Thanks, these ones live in my garden and compost heap, so I guess they won't be appropriate.

    Woodlice

Woodlice. Well, that's what I've always called them:

    Woodlice

I'm wondering if it's OK to have woodlice in the vivarium, either as custodians or as an occasional snack (the smaller ones) I'm talking about regular common or garden woodlice as opposed to tropical woodlice, as I have a plentiful supply.

Problem with the right size crickets for pygmies

I'm able to get small (silent) crickets locally, but the problem is most of them are still a bit large, ie bigger then the width of the pygs' heads - however they seem happy enough chomping on the slightly larger ones. But should I worry they might choke? If so has anyone got a good...

    Hi from sunny Southampton

I'm very pleased to have found this forum. I'm new to chameleons and recently got some pygmies (R.Brev) I will have a few questions, it seems the "starter kit" the shop sold me was not quite appropriate in some respects, e.g. there was a waterfall which I discovered is not a good idea, after...
