It looks like a thermal burn...even though the light is 7" above, it is more important to establish and monitor the temp...If you have a thermometer turn the light back on and see what the peak is.

There isn't much info out there on the web. And you probably know this already. One thing you can do to find out if it is a quality pump is to see the internals, and see what the sound and vibration levels are like. Loud and heavy vibration pumps are more than likely to have high heat...
I think the general forum would tend to agree it is not a good idea. I don't thing chams would eat the dead crickets unless they were really hungry. Movement stimulates the chams to hunt and stalk.

I would agree. If you can work out the specs for this viv it looks really nice. some details that you would want to know is how is the air ventilated (I have no idea what a good rate would be for these types of viv's). UV light size and cost of replacement. overall construction of the viv...
I was wondering...not sure if it is possible or even feasible. But.since the Eggs them selves are calcium based, would an x-ray be an option or some way (Usound) of visualizing, counting, measure the eggs. Something like a bone density scan. Maybe one now and then again in say a week or two...
The consensus will tell you no. And I would have to agree. Having started with both male and female in a single cage, I have found that they both did better in their own individual vivs.

I have been reading more about Chams here in the Islands and noted that there were to morphological types. It is not clear whether they are sub species of xanth or two totally different types. I haven't found anything further on this. I posted the link below...
I agree with Jan....More than like the reason for the dull color is because he is ready to shed.
My jacksons shed in areas now and they are about 1.5 to 2 years old...

well there were 3 sucessful connections made today. I finally removed Girl from the viv and sent her home.
I am amazed how exhausted these get post deed. LOL
tomorrow will be different as I am back at work so I am not sure how I will be doing the monitoring...
