Larry survived the move, I'm not sure he is eating though.

I snapped a picture of him pulling a mission impossible move (hanging by his tail and feet over a plant) and I will have to get some more. He is being rather elusive when he sees me come by lately, hopefully he will become more photogenic. I got the cage assembled, it looks pretty good now I...

Larry survived the move, I'm not sure he is eating though.

Some good news is Larry is eating and he must be drinking as his urate looks decent and his eyes look pretty good. He usually falls asleep or at least starts winding down around seven or so, yesterday I couldn't find him in his plant though starting around five pm or so. I'm hoping he was just...

New To Chameleons Help Me Please!

I have had pets ranging from dogs to praying mantises and I must say chameleons are a new beast. I bought a baby veiled a month ago and I have to constantly make sure he has food that is supplemented, hydrate him well, check on him to make sure he is a healthy color, etc. Though it isn't hard...

Larry survived the move, I'm not sure he is eating though.

I will see if I can try to get my hands on some of those. His 18x18x36 enclosure should arrive in a day or two and I'm hoping things pick up once he gets his new home. He usually has a pretty good temperament and outside of his home he is very chill and friendly. I felt absolutely awful having...

Larry survived the move, I'm not sure he is eating though.

He got pissed at me when I tried to get him out of his home yesterday and even hissed and went for a bite. I finally got him in a little to go container and he slept for part of the 5 hour trip and was trying to get out for the other part. He is back in his home and I haven't seen him eat any...

    Noobie alert. Need some help.

I'm a pretty new veiled owner and I must say it is rather expensive, especially when you first start off. You need a decent enclosure that allows for ventilation (http://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-reptibreeze-aluminum-screen-cages.html) those work well, I searched around for a while and...

What is the best way to transport a baby veiled for 5 hours?

Would I need to worry about waking him up? One of the posters said that he will probably fall asleep and I would hate to spray him, wake him up, and stress him out again.

What is the best way to transport a baby veiled for 5 hours?

So my move is tomorrow and from reading various posts, I'm going to put Larry in a little to go container thing and place that in a brown bag so its dark. I'm going to have my digital thermometer probe in the brown bag so I can monitor the temperatures. I think my two remaining questions are...

    Chameleons recognize their owners...

I have had Larry for almost a month now and he is learning to like me...slowly. When I took him to the vet for his checkup, Dr. Anderson (female) wanted to see him so I told her she was more than welcome to try to get him out of his home. She picked him up easily, he looked at her, and turned...

So Larry is shedding, how long does that usually take?

I just checked on him and there is a little bit on his tail and some on his feet. I think I read a post saying that if the shed stays on the feet too long it can start irritating the feet due to shrinkage of the shed skin. Is there anything other than keeping his home moist that will help him...

So Larry is shedding, how long does that usually take?

I came home from the dentist (one cavity :() and I was only about 90 minutes or so and when I checked on Larry he had some white stuff trailing behind him and as I got closer I could tell he was shedding. I got some pictures of him and one thing I noticed was that only has back half was...

    Changing homes for Larry

I'm moving on Saturday and I thought I would order an 18x18x36 reptibreeze enclosure so I could arrive and have it already be there waiting for me. Currently, Larry is in a large tub with tons of drilled holes on all four sides and there is a screen on top. I think Larry is about 10-12 weeks at...

Best way to get cham out of enclosure???????

I would have a branch or a (sterilized) stick and lean it in the cage so it goes to the exit. When she comes out to the door place your hand in front of her slowly until she comes onto it. If she feels that you are intruding on her territory she will hiss and try to bite, just let her come out...

    Aggression in cage only

I agree with Laurie. My veiled certainly knows that his plant is his home. If he is off of it he has no problem being friendly but if I attempt to reach for him or move him off of one of his leaves he certainly doesn't like it.

    Shedding

I saw a woman peeling the shed skin off of one of her chameleons. The veiled was hissing at her the entire time. Much like a scab, the shed skin will come off when its the right time.

What is the best way to transport a baby veiled for 5 hours?

I took Larry to the vet earlier in the week for a fecal and an overall checkup and I took the bin he lives in. I wasn't very excited about taking him on the road because I thought he would hate it but he was just hangin on his pothos plant with his nice greens showing. I had his digital probe on...

    Baby veiled's appetite

Just an update, I have been using a drippy cup and upped his feeding (he dusted off 20 crickets today) and his poos/urates look fantastic. The woman at the petstore was surprised to see me getting more crickets today because I blew through 4 dozen of them in just a few days. He is eating like a...
