I either need to get a stronger wattage bulb or I need to move the lamp. I checked the temperature after it had been on for two hours and it was reading 77 at the very very top. Larry has just remained a yucky color the entire time.
Here is the new setup:
It gets to 86 where it is circled. Larry seems to like it hot though. When I had it on the side he was always green and hangin by it. Now that it is up top, he still hangs out on the branches where he used to but he is a dark color a good bit of the time. I would think...
I got him out and he was livid at me. I posted some pictures in this thread: https://www.chameleonforums.com/larry-showin-me-whos-boss-well-flexin-some-new-color-44371/
He doesn't mind hangin on my hand and when he does he is a nice green. However, getting him there is the problem. I didn't...
I'm assuming that he is about 12 weeks or so, I'm pretty sure the pet store I got him from was full of crap. On the very last picture you can see a little bump on the back of his foot. I was checkin him out earlier and I'm pretty certain he is a boy :)
Yup, its black and shiny. The picture...
You're being generous with that 150 pounds, I'm weighing in at about 133 with my clothes and shoes on :D
I have actually wondered on a number of occasions myself actually. I looked at his left feet earlier and didn't see any but he had them on his right side. Kinda strange don't ya think?
I had to move Larry today to modify his home a little bit. I couldn't resist using the oppurtunity for a photo shoot
Showing me he is big and bad:
He really isn't liking me being in his space:
Some stress colors; I knew he was getting some more color but he had some...
I would say baby crickets are your safest bet. I gave my baby veiled a really small meal worm some time ago and it was hard for him to get down. Crickets may get boring after a little while but they will eat them if they are hungry.
I angled the light above the rack in the closet and the top where he can reach is reading at about 86 F. The house at the moment is about 78 degrees or so (this Tallahassee heat is ridiculous) and I run the air condtioning minimally throughout the day but it doesn't get hotter than 78. Since I...
I have the basking light clipped to the top of the closet shelf. I will do some tinkering tomorrow and see if I can make it work. Do I need to worry about him being too close to the tube light? He likes to hang near the top and he can get within a few inches of the reptisun.
It makes total sense, the only way to do that though would be to put it on top of the closet rack. It would still give a good bit of heat, may not be hot enough with the bulb though. I will try moving it and see how the temps get and make a decision from that point.
For the scheflera, should I...
Somewhat recently Larry had a poo that had a slimy brown coating over it and it sounds kind of similar to what you mentioned. I'm not sure what caused it but it got better over night. I agree it is a good idea to have a fecal done, it could clear up in a day or two as well.
I will move the lamp until I can get a lower wattage, I'm using a 75 watt right now. Ill check the temp for the middle of the cage tomorrow, it is usually around the mid to low 80's and it gets cooler as he moves towards the left side of the cage. There are ample climbing limbs and branches, he...
Another plant probably is in order and I will fasten the branches with wire and wrap the chains in floral tape. Do the lights seem to be placed alright?
He is usually toward the top of his enclosure, ironically in front of the heat lamp. I have his temperature probe on one of his bendy sticks and it gets to 90 or so. He can climb on the side of the cage infront of the map though where I imagine it is a bit warmer. As of yet he hasn't done that...
Like I said I'm totally open for critique. I checked and felt all the chain carefully to make sure it wasn't rough or sharp and all of the thumb tacks are in partially so they don't protrude at all. I will certainly take a look at some other setups though.
I tried putting pressure on the screen, it didn't really do much.
As far as the pothos, its just a pothos that I picked up at Lowes. It grows visibly every day which amazes me.
Every now and then Larry will have his mouth open and when he sees me he closes it. He isn't gaping and there isn't heavy breathing, he acts and looks completely normal. He doesn't always do it, today was the first time I saw him do it in two weeks or so. He just saw a vet a few weeks ago and...
Larry's 18x18x30 arrived the other day and I have taken a good bit of time to set it up. Here are some pictures of the finished product:
Pre Larry -
My phone severly shrunk the picture, sorry about that.
Cage stand -
I actually got one of those three door storage things at target...
Glad to hear there is positive input. I should have pictures within the next day or two of the enclosure and the setup I have going. I can't wait to have larry in his new home :)
I am setting up Larry's new enclosure and I got one of those hanging baskets that is lined with coco fibers. Before I unpot his plant and move it into the basket (which would result in him being pissy at me...again) I figured I would ask to see if their are any negatives for that. The bowl is...
