    Appropriate drinking water

Thats good to know. I live in Tallahassee and the water out of the tap has so much chlorine you can actually smell it if you try, so I have been a bit cautious as to what he drinks.

    Appropriate drinking water

I have been buying the gallon jugs of purified water for Larry and they cost about $.80 each. That isn't hugely expensive, but given how much water he gets, it adds up pretty quickly over time. Is boiling tap water or letting it sit out for a number of hours to dechlorinate an alternative?

    Got my panther ambilobe !!!

Good lookin kiddo you have there. It looks like you have a sand or dirt substrate which isn't the best for the chameleon in most cases. If they ingest it while hunting for food (or just because they want to) it can lead to impaction.

    Larry's third shed :)

I have a pump mister and I make sure I get all around the cage so water drops form. Otherwise I just spray away. He has been chompin on bigger ones. I just reordered from Ghann's and I got a few munchkins in the batch.

    Larry's third shed :)

I had been expecting a shed from Larry for the past few days and he started it yesterday. I snapped some pics while I could. Start of his shed - Came home to this from work - He finished his shed this morning so I grabbed another couple pictures - I was able to nab...

    He hates being misted!!

I could be out in left field, but in the second photo the arm looks slightly curved. If that is the case, it could be the start of MBD, although I am (very) far from an expert on the matter.

Can chameleons have a hard time starting a shed?

I have felt that Larry is getting ready for a shed and over the last few days, I have seen him do a face stretch/silent roar as well as puff up a good time or two. I'm not worried by any stretch, is this unheard of though?

    Not hand feeding, but close!

I have had my male veiled for almost four months now and he just started hand feeding two weeks ago. Just takes patience :)

    DARK Colouration for Andrew

Is the reptisun one of the tube lights or compact coils? I'm guessing you have the tube light, if you have a compact coil switch it out asap because they are known to cause eye problems.

    Getting Discouraged

I was anxious at a point when Larry had some white around his nose. It really seems to come and go. If they have too much calcium in their system, it will come out of their nose but you really won't have to worry about that as long as you aren't 'ghosting' the crickets so they are completely...

It pains me to do this, but I think I need to find a new home for Larry.

I certainly appreciate all the time and effort all of you have given with this topic. I tend to have a habit of over thinking things and I think I heard what I needed to hear. I definitely care about Larry and I will hold on to him until I can't. Thanks again everyone for your insight and...

It pains me to do this, but I think I need to find a new home for Larry.

On Mondays I don't get home until seven and on Wednesdays I don't get home until around ten. He gets fed and misted around 10-11 on those days. His mistings and feedings are fine on the other five days, it's not fair to him though to not have consistency. Even with a veiled being able to survive...

It pains me to do this, but I think I need to find a new home for Larry.

I mist him twice a day and feed him twice a day, and to be honest, there is nothing wrong with the care I'm giving him. My dillema sets in knowing that I can't always run home to make sure he gets misted or fed. I have thought about getting a mistking but for the moment, my finances are tight. I...

It pains me to do this, but I think I need to find a new home for Larry.

Between my new job and school schedule, I am finding that I don't have the resources to take care of Larry anymore. It is more a time constraint more so then anything else. If there is anyone in the Tallahassee area that would like a male veiled chameleon that is about five months old, please...

I'm still sticking to "I love my chamaleon to death but dubias are disguisting and I will never allow them in my house". Sorry Larry.

All hope lost for escaped panther???

I know a forum member had a similar horror story that turned out well. The long and short of it is that the owners put out the escaped male's lady-chameleon friend in an enclosure outside and in a short while they found the male on the cage. I think it goes something like that

    might have a problem

She might be too cold or stressed out. Has she been in your care for very long? If you fill this form out you can probably get some better answers: Chameleon Info: * Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? * Handling - How often...

Please help, I think Larry hurt his tongue :/

Morning folks. I just gave Larry a couple crickets to see if his tongue was back to normal and he seems pretty alright for the most part. I'm going to skip feeding him until tonight just so he has some time to rest his tongue. He stopped showing stress colors when I was hand feeding him (took a...
