Thanks Kara. Yeh I used a humid hide to my snake's enclosure when he is shedding but I wasn't sure about directly misting the chameleon. I am on it :).

Hello,
My 7 month old male panther chameleon is going through shedding for the first time under my care. I was wondering if I should continue to mist him like I usually do or if I should wait till he has completed shedding the old skin. I wasn't sure if misting would make it hard for him to...
I haven't looked into this recently but from what I recall Zoomed initially tackled the problem by changing the instructions on the package when it comes to distance between the bulb and the animal. I am not sure about exo-terra but if I recall it correctly Zilla was the one company that didn't...
The water tray from LLL looks neat but it doesn't say how you would drain the water from that tray, once it fills up. If they didn't provide a means to drain the water then that could be a real pain.

Yeh, I picked up a shower curtain and plan to fasten it to the back and one side. And I also plan on using a new nozzle and will see if it helps.
Michael
Thanks for the link Steven. And thanks everyone for the ideas. I have a new nozzle, which I believe is a white one, so I am going to switch that and see how it goes.
Thank you.
Michael
Hi Steven - Do you know where you can order misting heads that produce a tighter cone?
I considered covering one or two sides with plastic but I am hesitant to cover the sides and block the air flow.

The one I am using is the one that LLLReptile sells on their site. I used to use it for my tortoises and I am using it now until I upgrade my misting system to something different (or should I say better).

Hi Everyone,
I have a misting system setup on my 18"x18"x36" cage for my 6 month old panther chameleon. I am looking for ideas on how to prevent water from the mister going through the screens on the sides and back. I have a collection tray in the bottom of the cage but quiet a bit sprays on...
Most mercury vapor bulbs are self ballasted bulbs and unfortunately they tend to burn out easily. In my experience Megaray bulbs from www.reptileuv.com and T-Rex Active UV bulbs have been the most reliable.
Megaray is also available in external ballasted version and that is just GREAT. A...
Hi Sandra,
What have you used it for? I have used Reptaid in the past but with tortoises and only when there have been health issues. Just curious on what you use it for.
Thank you.
Michael
Hi,
Being in the same room where the bulbs are won't cause you any problems but getting exposed, or should I say overexposed, to the UVB radiation from the bulb could be a bad thing. As long as the bulb is far away from you I would say you are safe.

I think the Mazuri product is different from the Purina cricket chow. Here is a link to the Mazuri product https://www.mazuri.com/PDF/5M38.pdf.
From what I have heard Purina now makes chow for crickets and eartworms too.

Hi John,
I do have that super pet screen and that was actually one of my thoughts, replace the existing screen with that one. Need to figure that out.
Michael
I haven't used anything of that sort around chameleons, yet. But when I am using paint or weatherproofing stuff around my turtles and tortoises then I use water based latex paints/primers. Just let them dry out and after that there should not be any issues.
Michael
Just curious, does the plastic chicken wire material just stay in front of the regular screen that comes with the cage? Won't the space in the chicken wire be large enough where the chameleon can still accidentally get his toes stuck in the cage screen?
Michael
Hello,
I have a 6 month old panther male and he is doing great. I see him walking on the screen once in a while and right now he doesn't seem to have any issues. But I am wondering if his toe nails will get caught in the screen material when he grows up. What can I do to ensure he doesn't run...
