I'll take a picture for you when i get home. After having installed it in my cage i realized i should have just purchased some dragon strand ledges. It would have made installation much easier.
I bought this a week ago. My chameleon immediately took to it. My only problem with it was that there is no easy way to set up in a screen cage. I had to make a small hole to pull the power cord through. I then attached three strong magnets to secure it.
I don't know if there is such a thing as "excessive shedding". Young chameleons will shed up to once a month. At your chameleons age once every two months is probably the norm. So your chameleon seems to be right on track. Don't let it weird you out, they are just growing.
Everything seems normal to me. It could take him up to a couple weeks to get acclimated but it seems as though he is making pretty good progress thus far. Keep up the good work.
Yeah, a lot of info will say not to leave them in there due to the possibility of the crickets chewing on the cham while it sleeps. I have not had this issue or seen the crickets bother him while he sleeps. But i only leave a few in over night at most.
Hand feeding is good sometimes but it is...
Set up a tub or catch bin and let the dripper run until its out. I use a big dripper, fill it up in the morning, set it at a slow drip and just leave it for the day.
I don't think having a bunch of crickets in there with him will stress him. As long as your not housing him with like a hundred. But throwing 20 crickets in his enclosure in the morning will allow him to hunt and eat his fill without stressing him out.
Couple tips
You don't need a heat pad for chameleons. Especially living in Florida. That is probably why he staying away from it.
And you should probably be feeding him anywhere from 10-20 crickets a day as he is in his growth phase.
