    60W vs. 100W

Im really not sure why my thermostat isn't pushing the ceramic heat emitter up to temperature. I can only put it down to the cold ambient temperature of the room. The room is 56 or there abouts so getting the terrarium to 80 is probably the best it will achieve. Hopefully a higher watt ceramic...

Exciting Times Very excited for you. Glad you liked my set up. I've had to order a higher watt ceramic heat emitter though because the 60w isn't putting out enough heat. I had everything sorted for his arrival and then he comes and boom, the infrared heat bulb is too strong, bam the ceramic...

    Meller's Chameleon Suggestions

Breeding ground for bacteria? Are waterfalls a breeding ground for bacteria? I've spoken to the Chameleon exhibit designers at my local museum and aquarists about using water waterfalls. The aquarium pond pump guy said that moving water won't harbour bacteria and only stagnant water harbours...

Finally! I can get a plant... suggestions?

    Thermostats in the US

Fellow Brit rights, I use a thermostat to give my Chameleon a base line ambient temperature of 75+ and the warmer end and 70+ at the cooler end. This thermostat uses a ceramic heat emitter that gives off no light so I can use it at night without disturbing the photo period. During the day I...

Finally! I can get a plant... suggestions?

Swiss Cheese Plant or Devils Ivy. Both beautiful large leaf plants. I'm getting some Bromieliads in soon but I'm not sure how they suit Chameleons. They should be fine because they are low plants that will just look the part, he shouldn't bother with them down on the floor.

    60W vs. 100W

Its a real science isn't it, and it's all so specific to your set up, the species, how warm your house is, what climate you live in etc... I am struggling to strike a balance. Im using a basking lamp of 75w and a ceramic heat emitter on a thermostat. The ceramic heat emitter I am using is 60w...

    First Week of Chameleon Ownership.

Thank you. Pictures will be no problem. I have read a few posts about chameleons having problems with cameras or being handled but Keith is absolutely fine with both. If I put my hand by him he walks straight onto my hand. I handle him everyday in this way. If he had the slightest issue with...
