    Basking lamp

What is the difference between the 20 dollar reptile basking lamps and the all chrome clamp-lamps you can get at home depot for 6 bucks? As long as it's not sitting directly on the cage can you just use the cheap one with an incandescent instead of the black outside - white inside ones that are...

    My dear friend Mr. Gandhi...

I guess only one eye was interested in what I was doing...

    Stan's Health

I thought that initially...which is why I went back to the store and read the boxes on both bulbs. The reptiglo says it's more for tropical animals...the reptisun leaning more toward desert-type...so I just assumed the 'glo would be the one to get. Now I'm seeing that most everyone here uses...

    Stan's Health

What exactly is the difference between the reptiGLO and the reptiSUN?? I've asked this several times and nobody seems to have any real objective information. Have you done a side by side comparison? I've had a reptiGLO for several months now over my male jacksons and he seems to be doing just...

    My new Pot-bellied Pig

How big do those things get? I was considering getting one for my g/f for christmas but she already has a few little dogs and I don't want this thing to get huge and become like the neighborhood bully. :D

Why are paradalis still so highpriced

You have waaaaaaaay too much time on your hands, but the animals are still overpriced. Sorry. :)

    brick = hydroton ??

Hydroton is overrated...unless you're running a large hydroponic system, you don't need it. You could use broken up pieces of pot, like BradR said, or you could use pieces of brick, or rock, or glass (though I wouldn't recommend that last one...) on the bottom few inches of your pot before you...

    GOOOD PICS of kanika

Beautiful girl you've got! How is she adapting to captivity? I bought a female jacki that I suspect is wild caught and she was pretty stubborn for a while. Refused to eat until I introduced her to waxworms...now she's like a little potbelly pig. :D

Why are paradalis still so highpriced

Does it cost 5+ times as much to raise panthers as it does to raise veilds? Or any other type of chameleon for that matter? The answer to the thread starters question, in my opinion, would be simply: Capitalism...whadayagonnado.

    Parsons for sale

For 6200 bucks that thing better do a hell of a lot more than "be big"...if I'm paying over a grand for something it better slice, dice, AND make julian fries.

What's the appeal of parsonii that makes them cost thousands of dollars? Just rarity?

    A few more feeders?

So, I've got 3 different feeders that my chameleons love- Hornworms, Butterworms, and crickets (sometimes). They'll eat pretty well as long as I'm constantly alternating between those 3. What they DONT seem to be very interested in are mealworms and silkworms...and right now, roaches are...

    Breeding panthers

The guy I got my male jacksons from has had the same breeding pair in what looks like a 2x2x5 (LxWxH) enclosure in his backyard for several years. I think he said his male was 8 years old...not sure of the female (I want to say she's a year younger but I'm not positive)...but they're healthy...

    Drainage

frame in the bottom of your cage so that the flat piece (in my case .220 thick plexiglass) slopes toward one corner. Don't make your slope so steep that the plants slide, but only a slight slope is needed so it won't be a problem. Drill a few small holes (or one large hole covered with screen)...

    uvb lighting?

Has anyone ACTUALLY done a side-by-side comparison of the reptiSUN vs the reptiGLO?

    Does your wood cage warp?

Fill your joints with wood filler...prime EVERYwhere...and paint with exterior hi-gloss enamel. It'll be fine. Or use treated lumber. I prefer a good paint job.

    What kind of basking bulb?

Ok so it's starting to get a little cold around here...and the room I have my chams in seems to be the only one in the house without insulation in the walls... I've got a reptiglo 5.0 tube for UV so I just need to create a little warm area in their cage now...is a regular incandescent ok?

    Need a custom cage...

If you have someone else make you a custom cage like this...it's very unlikely that it's going to be what you'd call "cheap". If you have the tools you're probably better off making it yourself.
