Blueberries could have great nutritional values but there is nothing that says the chameleon have the means to make use of them.
Just because an animal loves to eat something does not make it good for them. You choose to ask what good may come out of feeding with these, but what about the...
Ist it a bit drastic and fear-inducing to start talking about occidiosis from eating wild flies?
Is this a huge problem in the states, occidia in the trash?
Unless you are all interested in insect animal rights, I dont see a problem in giving the feeders high protein food for growth. It should be replaced with a better gutload in good time though, I fail to see how this could have any negative effect on the chameleon as protein itself is not stored...
Yes, through out the years calyptratus is still a favourite of mine, this 15 years later. So you shouldn't not get it because it is considered "a beginners chameleon" eighter. I love them, most people do or will.
I think you are showing great character by being so prepared.
If you show the same dedication to your next chameleons, there is really not up to us too choose for you - with the right amount of reading etc. one can keep any animal.
My point is that you should not get a veiled just because...
I had some questions about the rules PM:ed but never got an answer, could I ask them here?
I was wondering about the:
"Photos that have previously been a part of other contests or competitions of any kind are not permitted. If you previously entered a contest on this website and did not...
I personally never had a problem with reflection, for one the water in Uppsala is extremely hard - the glass is white in one misting, and I never had a fractured bone...
I have found that reflection can be avoided by experimenting with the position of the light sources.
That non reflecting...
If you can forgive the bad quality of the pictures, I can show you what was sketched in a diskussion much like this just the other week in a swedish forum.
From the side a sloping floor (for drainage) was discussed. All the sides are bolted against a wooden frame of 2x2 beams(?)...
Two open sides is more than ventilation, its basically open. It would be interesting to have something to measure to se the difference betweet, say, that and an all screen cage.
Just for comparison I can say that in regular "european style" terrariums, it is said that apozimately 2% of the...
Oups, sorry... hehe.
One piece of advice I like to give people is light. Many times the light itself is forgotten; we have the UVB, we have the spot light, but we forget "regular" whithe light. Daylight tubes around 6500K is great, these days one can also find regular compakt lights (low...
I agree, I have always said that all forms of variation in food intake is a good way to prevent deficiency diseases of all kinds. Its just a matter of amount one have to consider, it often doesnt take much to get a good variation.
Aha. The funny part is that I didnt know the swedish word for them eighter, they are just called "cat stranglers" as a joke.
Turns out its "buntband" in swedish, translating into something like "bunch string" or "stack strip", where "bunt" means something collected and held together, like a...
Being a fellow european, you wont get any "all screen cage" advice from me.
Wood is a great material, easy to modify if needed.
You can still have a lot of ventilation, but modified to keep the heat and humidity in. I can send you some "blue prints" later if you need inspiration.
Haha, but it can! All the unnecessary use of antibiotics and more will hurt when you have recistant bacteria on your hands. It doesnt apply in this case though, so I'll let you go this time ;)
