I started with 5 breeding pair and 50 mixed. The breeder was awesome enough to give me females that were about to birth. It took a few months for me to feed them all off.
I bought 5 more breeding pairs (10 total), and 50 more mixxed. My colony went absolutely nuts. There's no way I will...
Has anyone done this? I know this is extreme but what if I have the whole dubia colony available to her and she eats when hungry.
Obviously I'd have to watch her weight and make sure she doesn't get fat.
I'll just put one of the small plastic cages hanging in her area somewhere. No way can they get out of them.
I'll be gone for 5 days at a time when I start traveling for my job.
I was just curious if chameleons get full or not. Say I put 10 roaches in a small cage with hiding places, food, and water. Will my veiled eat all of them and kill herself or will she only eat a couple a day?
I'm curious because I'll be traveling soon. My roomate feeds her when I'm gone...
Can't believe no one has caught this yet. STOP DUSTING WITH D3!!!! You should use calcium WITHOUT D3 for the regular dusting. There's no set number of times to use calcium with D3. From what I read absolute min 2 times per month, max weekly.
Edit: didn't read 2 posts before me. Sorry I don't...
What's the point of separating them? I keep all of mine in a plastic tub and at 95*. Two females already gave birth within 2 weeks (they were obviously prego before). The little ones won't grow as fast with cooler temps.
For anyone else reading, I can't believe I didn't get dubias before...
I was a little worried about the transistion as well. Heres how I ended up going about it:
Take Hanket (female veiled) out of reptibreaze, put in free range set up, put cage in closet never to be seen again. lol
Hey guys, and gals. I feel bad for my veiled but its time to drop back the feeders. I was wondering what the difference was between feeidng every other day or feeding every day at a smaller rate.
Right now I am feeding ever day 3 dubia's 1/2" - 3/4". Shes about 8 months old, and havent...
Pff 6000+ posts, and more medals then a general. What do you know?! :p
I free range my 8 month old veiled right now. I use a zoo med combo hood (24" tube bulb + 3 reg bulbs) that hangs from my ceiling. She climbs to the top of the tree when she wants to get savage other wise she's all over...
Thanks a lot guys. She has not developed her blues yet, still just green. Also she hasnt been gravid yet either, or ever shown signs (not eating, dark, low in cage). Is she a late developer possibly?
Definiately a girl as well because because of no spurs. I can attatch pictures if needed.
Alright so my setup is a zoo-med combo light over a large alii ficus tree (free range) I put regular 65 watt light bulbs in the hood (3), and have another 75 watt (specific daytime bulb) for the basking.
Wasting all this energy is really bothering me. I want to put super white CFL's in the...
Close my bedroom door, and watch where I step when I walk in until I find her lol. She has never been off the tree, vine, window sill though. I figured if I keep her area well there is no reason she would want to leave. And if she does she'll be back shortly.
