Oh come on, it wasn't that bad. Everyone here is really nice. We all have different ways of communicating. You're really lucky to have experienced keepers just a few key strokes away to help you out.
As I offered in PM, you're welcome to call if you want some pointers on rehydration and...
A few here have been known to do that as well. Mostly when they are eating dubias. I have to wonder, do they have an odd texture or taste? Sometimes it has happened with supers. Never with silkworms though. Never with houseflies. Not in my experience anyway.
I doubt that having one eye would get in the way unless the female is standing on the wrong side of his head. :) I have a one-eyed panther too. He lost use of his eye because of massive infections. His aim is pretty good but things just take a little longer. Maybe breeding would be the same...
Thanks Kevin. I probably came off curt or something.
Love that last paragraph!
The problem is, it's sooooo easy to misinterpret words. That's why it would be really good if he can attend a meeting and meet some other keepers in the area and maybe get to visit some of them to see how...
It got to 120 in Woodland Hills (Los Angeles) once and it often is well over 100 degrees in the summer.
Protect chameleons from extreme temperatures and always provide them with a drip and misting system.
Actually, without having more details from the OP, it's hard to help him out. Too...
Let me know when you get back. You can give me a call and we'll figure out what the problem is. I'm sure it's something simple. If I can breed them, everyone can. lol
I'm going to have a booth at this show: http://www.reptilesupershow.com/
It will be my first show as ChamEO, Inc. and not for some other non-profit. I used to go for the herp society but those days are over.
Anyhow, what I really want to know is...
WHERE'S THE PARTY GOING TO BE?
Very good to know. I don't keep the workshop that warm but I think inside their bin it's about 90+. I'll change the heat source to an infrared. That should be even better. It's not like they want the light. They just need heat.
Thanks for the tip!
Get a pair of pointed dissection scissors and precision tweezers for next time. If you have the tools handy, you can gently snip the egg a little more without even moving it from the incubation container.
Awww, that's a real bummer. Sorry about that. It can be very frustrating.
I had a clutch of cristatus start to sweat and darken. Out of the 10 eggs total, only 3 hatched out without any help whatsoever. The 4th chameleon, I snipped the egg after it stopped sweating and had begun to...
Sure, I will give an update in about a week. The hatchlings started on May 18th. So we're almost at 3 weeks... 19 days actually. Lots of shedding going on in the bin. They are noticeably larger. I don't see any dead crickets yet.
I'm no expert at this. I'm learning just as you are. But here is what I'm doing and I have hardly any dying. Even my adults are all alive. I picked out about 200 adults as they morphed into adults. I guess I've had them for about 3 weeks. But none have died.
Deli lids are good for...
Now that's a nice cage. You could fit some pretty large trees in there. Cut some branches if you have trees or shrubs in your yard to cut. The branches can make nice horizontal perches.
