Hey guys I have just bought a male veiled chameleon who is a little bit different. His calm colours are browns, oranges and white and when he's fired up it can ba browns, greens, oranges, white yellows and blue of various combinations and can be very fast switches between them.
I bought him...
Chameleons are very hard of hearing as they have no outer ear vents so Sound doesn't effect them. I'd worry more about fast movements I had a male yemen in a low traffic room and he hates anything andanyone that moves at the moment. I'm aiming to take my female into my class of year 2 kids in a...
I'm quite excited with what I might get ill take some photos and put put them on this thread when I can get closer and he's stopped shedding, since we've been back (2 hours) however sat on the sofa and he's actually come out and sat in full view of us and has stayed there when we stood up so...
Thanks for all your input secretly I know all this it's just wierd to have got a very confident feisty girl who from 3 months has generally hated me till she's out of her viv and were best buddies to having a very frightened male who when reading they tend to be monsters who hate you.
I...
hey guys i was wondering if you can help. yesterday i bought a very handsome rusty orange male yemen chameleon. ive saw him in the pet store for the last month and wanted him since. well i stopped wanting him and bought him.
ive got him home and in a tank with all the right teperatures etc...
In theory surely it comes down to darwins "survival of the fittest" theory. Evolution favours the fittest and I'm thinking that some natural predator, environmental change would cause chameleons to evolve to survive e.g colour size etc
Finally something I might have knowledge on. My veiled female has the sam thing on her right Side but closer to the tail which caused great concern and worry but she had to have an x-ray when they found out she couldn't form her eggs properly, and I mentioned to the vet when she showed me the...
I had the lighting outside with my female yemen yet she still managed to get a burn. i thought it was her shedding but i took her to the vets and she ended up having anti biotics perscribed.
I'd get it checked out by a vet as ive learnt that chameleons seem to be experts at concealing pain...
Ive had the same problem with my 11 week old Elliots, fruit flies were everywhere, banana works a treat but make sure its in view they are drawn to somethin thats in bananas, i put an egg cup of cider vinegar outside his viv to tempt the straglers to their doom
:)I have a very grumpy 8 month female yemen, it took time and patients but I got her used to hand feeding using silk, wax and meal worms which she could only have from hand feeding from me so she associated my hand to food, also fiddle with vines so she knows your hands not an imposter.
I...
Hey guys i was wondering if my yemen might be gravid she has grown recently and her movements look a lot more effort for her and shes acting like and old man with a walking stick. shes not showing colours like other pictures i have seen on here which has got me wondering.
ive up loaded...
hey guys
io have a 10 week old male Elliots chameleon and im feeding him on fruitflies (the bigger version) but the buggers are escaping from the exoterra ive read lots of different tactics but what is the most effective way as my misses is about to throw the lot out the window:D
cheers
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had experience in breeding/ having Elliots Chameleons, I'm getting one a week Saturday and I was wondering the best way to feed them? I've heard flightless fruit flies but do I limit them or let them loose in his viv? I've also heard pin heads in a feeding...
She has a fluorescent UVB light tube in there with her. And although the ceramic is in the viv she can't touch it directly. As it has a guard on it. Is this still a problem?
Yeah it's a mesh cage around the ceramic heat lamp to stop her climbing on it. She's in a well ventilated wood vivarium with live plants which I thought were far enough from the guard but she's found a way. I can post pictures tomorrow as everything's off but should I be worried?
Hey guys I've just put my yemen in a new setup wit a ceramic heat guard. I have already noticed that she's climbing on the heat guard. Although she can't touch the bile and the guard isn't hot just warm to touch (I think that's what she likes) but is this safe of shall I rearrange things again?
