Thanks that helps a lot! No he was a a great vet and very personable (personally has been checking on optimus). I was just curious about the baytril because we have been giving the reptaid for seven days and opt is still have mucous/coughing. Thanks again
Hey Everyone,
So my little chameleon has been fighting an RI. We took him to the vet (only one that sees reptiles..seems like a little amount) about a week ago and the vet said to get reptaid and possibly baytril. He said he was extremely hesitant on the baytril because our cham only weights...
So I have a question on the lighting of my cham's cage. I currently have the Exo Terra 5.0 Repti Glo Compact 13W and a normal 40W house bulb in a compact top on my 18x18x18 mesh Exo Terra cage. I wanted to know if it would be better for the Cham if I purchased the Zoo Med 5.0 Self Bassalted bulb...
The vet did not do a c&s on him. I think the vet was hesitant because he is extremely tiny (0.25 lbs)and kept saying that if he prescribed antibiotics it may do more harm than benefit.
I agree completely with you on the handling...less stress! We have a warm mist vaporizer next to his cage...
Hey guys...so I have been posting quite a bit on here and still researching about my little cham. Here is some basic info..
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled, Male, 2 Months Old. Owned for about a week.
Handling - 1-2 times daily for 10min. or if we are cleaning his cage.

Thanks for the replies! I guess what my question is, is I have a hygro/thermo at the basking spot of the cage and another thermo at the coolest (my temps are doing well and no problems there). The hygro is reading at 18 percent but thats the digital by the basking and then I have another analog...
Hygrometer Question in my cham cage?
Went out and bought a digital hydro/themometer, the exo terra one. I wanted to know where the best place to put it would be? I assumed near his basking spot since thats where he spends most of his time. I have my old hydrometer, an analog one, near the base...
So this morning Optimus wasnt making his popping noises and seemed alert/awake this morning. Just had his first poo of the day and looking normal. Here are a few pics of him and the set up. Let us know if there are any recommendations? Thanks!
Also added the 60W home bulb...
So another quick question, Optimus (my cham), is sleeping with his head raised high. Is this normal? He isnt awake, but last night when he slept he was in a more traditional pose with his head down. Maybe today was stressful for him with changing the cage (even though in the end I think it will...
Thanks everyone for the quick replies, has helped me relax a lil bit. When I look back at it he does wake up earlier than me at 9:00. I will look into a vet as well, it would make me feel best as well.
The noise that he is making though might not be a URI, it isnt constantly when he breathes...
Thats what my thermometer said, what would you recommend for a baby chameleon for the basking bulb? The people I bought the chameleon from provided both of the lights for the cage.
Hey all. Have a few questions about owning a new Veiled Cham. Recently purchased one from the local reptile store in town on Friday for my birthday, he is about a month old (if not a lil older) and is about 2-3" long.
He is in an 18x18x18 smaller Exo Terra cage. He also has two bulbs, the...
