Perhaps your dad has some sort of construction background? Maybe he can help you build a cage? I build most of mine from wood and aluminum screen from Lowes... as long as the wood is treated with a polyurethane to make it waterproof it would be fine for chams..
1. no heat pads, if this is for your chameleon enclosure,
2. My UVB puts out very little heat if at all, are you sure you have a uvb bulb?
3. lights go on top they associate the light with heat
also whats the basking temps and whats the ambient temps of the enclosure,

I use them, I have about 4 or 5 bonsai trees. they're only ficus trees in a bowl really(the ones I have are) you can also get firs as well, any kind of tree can potentially be a bonsai as Bonsai means "potted plant" they are just smaller and made to look miniature
Looks kewl ... what is the back made out of?Is it all waterproof? But for that size of enclosure I would think your looking for a adult panther... it may be a bit big for a juvi or a baby....
I originally bought one of these from PetSmart and took it all home and set it up, put in all my plants lights trees vines etc. and took a step back to admire the enclosure to find I could hardly see inside the thing... I was thinking to myself why would i get into such awesome little creatures...
I would agree that Aluminum wire is the way to go, is cheep looks good cricket proof.. and strong to climb on...I use Luaun back walls stained and multi coasts of polyurethane to keep it nice and water proof.. here is a pic of my enclosure for my Veilds...

And introduced some FF in today and BAM almost all are eating already! Some of them still have a little bit of sack connected and are eating... I'm in for it now i think, have 8 cultures going and think i should order more....
Very Nice! I cant wait to get a new BB Ambi , Weve wanted to get one ever since Sonic passed..... As soon as these little veilds start to go to good homes perhaps we will be able to finally get another... and maybe do some tradin! Nice lookin critter there hes sweet looking!
They're here!!! They have started hatching now.... i have about 13 or 14 trying out the new cages and found a few flaws and working on it now.. haha crafty little buggers...still working on teh light and will post pics up after i get it all taken care of...
the stand isn't built yet, but the top will be removable as the lighting fixture for it to be moved outside for natural sunlight for the little ones...the stand will have 2 drawers as well as 2 doors for food storage and perhaps some plugins...
