it is rust - have some white too but the rust is what bothers me - the cage will eventually fall apart b/c of it. an annoyed since it was expensive and is specifically called an 'aluminum cage for reptiles including chams"
just realized that i should do a search on the forum to see if this has been discussed before.
but if you have a favorite brand of alum cages let me know - i need to buy 10....
i have an aluminum cage that i love since the light and water drip sys can sit on top. also the door opens wide and stays open (versus the zipper on the mesh cages). BUT it is rusting ALREADY. i have the babies in it - mist it about every time i walk by and at this point i'll have to trash it...
pretty sure
i'm not positive but i think from all of the descriptions i've read that mine in a xanth. she had 10 babies not long ago, all of which are still alive. i am guessing that several, if not all, are males but until they mature i won't be sure. the horn nubs on about 1/2 are quite...
kamellia, a jackson's, came to our house 2 months ago, w/ an unplanned pregnancy - so while i started w/1, i now have 11 (and plan on keeping them all). won't be getting any more for YEARS!
is it in a little cage where it can easily see the prey?
i sprinkle lots (like 100 or so for my 10 babies) of prey over my babies so that the food lands in front of their face.
mine turn beige (dirty white) when they sleep - maybe yours is doing the same?
i was told, or read...
my jackson's had babies last, last sunday so ours are about the same age. they are successfully eating fruit flies, 1/8 in crix and 1/4 in crix. i sprinkle the bugs on the top of the tree leaves. i mist the cage every time i go by; maybe 5-10 times a day. they also go outside for several hours...
my jackson's gave birth last sunday - until then i thought she was of good weight and 'filled out' looking. now she seems awfully skinny - but i have nothing to compare her too since she was obviously pregnant long before i got her. should she ever have a bulging, or roundish look to her? if i...
all 10 from the unexpected birth are still alive, eating and drinking from what we can see. they sure are cute!
any suggestions on what type of light system to buy? since the compacts were nixed in this forum i'd appreciate specific brands that people use, and a url if possible! right now i...
all ten babies and the mommy made it thru the night. they are gorging on nearly impossible to see sized crix and fruit flies. just got them a smaller cage so will move them out of the one i jerry rigged.
thanks for all the help - i'm feeling less freaked now.
still can't find appropriate...
removed the uvb and have them in a smaller enclosure.
have 1/8 crix and more f.flies being shipped/arrive tomorrow i was told from big apple. if they don't arrive, julirs, i'll let you know - thanks for the offer!:D
will put up pix once i figure out how....
am shrinking the enclosures now (except for the mommy - she got a new, huge, 100 gal one yesterday).
new Q; i have the compact top, repti glo 5.0 uvb for each enclosure sitting on the top. is that too strong for the babies? they crawl up the screening to sit under it so i am constantly moving...
they are in 2 enclosures;
12X13X30 and 17X17X30 should they be in smaller ones?
i have 5 in each.
i finally saw one trying to catch a fly but it missed.
put a piece of banana in a gatorade lid to try to concentrate the flies.
some babies are rail thin. all but one very dark
my jackson's babies are not eating. i'm giving fruit flies but the babies stay at the top of the branches and the flies jump to the floor. i have biovine wound around the plant pots; touching both the ground and the plants. what do i do? the babies are 1 day old - have 10 total (all survived...
