I'm just kind of curious as to how often other adult chams poop. My female veiled used to poop pretty much every day when she was a juvi but since she became adult age (she is currently approx 15 to 16 months) she only poops about once every week or so. Her urates used to be very white but now...
I wouldn't worry much about that. My cham gets very grumpy when she sheds, sometimes she continues to eat and sometimes she doesn't. I have read lots of posts on here about chams not eating while they are shedding.
well I may be able to help you out with your hibiscus ?, hibiscus require alot of light to thrive. Alot of people will have two and swap them with eachother always having one outside, now that depends on where you liive if thats possible, it is not for me because of winter. Something else...
I also have a female veiled and I switched her to every other (sometimes every three) day feedings around that age. You can feed every day if you prefer but just less. The reason for feeding less along with keeping her temps a bit lower (82ish) is to keep her metabolism slowed down to...
I have never actually bred worms but have looked into it and from what I saw superworms are probably the easiest all around but I'm sure someone that has done it will chime in.
since the gutooading issue has been adressed already the other main thing I noticed was your highest temp being 90. That is a tad too hot for a female veiled (especially a baby) try keeping the hottest spot around 82. Can you post a pic of you enclosure, everyone likes pics. PS. where in...
looks pretty good, I like the rope idea. I would try to get the whole enclosure up on a table or something so its higher up, your lil guy will like that. Maybe get a plant stand for your hibiscus so its foliage is higher up where your cham will be spending the most time.
when I started my dubia colony I didn't think it was ever going to start growing because I never saw any babies but then all of a sudden there was hundreds more than I started out with. The babies may be hiding in the poop. I'm sure you will notice more really soon.
we all like pics. I believe my girl was approx 8 months when she started to develop her adult colours so I'm thinking you will see some changes pretty soon.
Sorry, I don't have any experience with ceramic heaters but I noticed you said that you want your basking spot higher than 90? Ideal basking temps for a f veiled are around 82, 85 tops. You also may want to start feeding your girl a bit less as she is getting to the age of sexual maturity...
hello echoezra, my f veiled loves grasshoppers and moths, I go out every saturday morning in the summer to catch her some, people that see me out with my net chasing bugs must think I'm nuts haha If you end up breeding them let me know and maybe we can do some feeder swapping as I have dubia...
alot of forum members including myself use fluorescent lights with a 6500k colour spectrum. I personally use two 27watt 6500k cfls in a hood and it actually provides the perfect basking temp for my f veiled (82ish) without having to provide a seperate heat bulb. I am not sure what kind of UV...
definately take the woodchips out as they can cause impaction in your cham not to mention that substrates can be a breeding ground for bacteria and a hiding spot for feeders. my f veiled gets kinda grump and does not eat as much when she is going through a bigger shed. I have read lots of...
How do you add to favorites? I didn't even know there was a favorites. that would be awesome because there is alot of threads that I would like to keep as reference, like this one, but lose them easily.
my female veiled was very active until about a year of age and has slown down gradually since. she still checks out her enclosure once in a while but tends to hang out at the top and bask most of the time now.
