That's what I thought.
First, what species are you talking about?
Don't think that the F.pardalis and C.calyptratus live under the canopy.
I use UVB bulb on my F.pardalis and, like many French breeders. Decidely, we keep our chams very differently...
We have fluorescent tubes only on...
Just, picks your insects in a place who fertilizers and pesticides are absent and in a place remote to a water point (pond, watercourse...) to avoid nematodes.
No, the light intensity don't cause stress.
When she stressed, they are darker and when the light intensity is low (in the shade), they become darker. But if they are exposed to the sun, it the face who is exposed who is darker.
;)
Female cham can be gravid even if they never been with a male...
Not only.
You forget the temperature, light intensity, the health, the communication, gestation colors etc...
She's darker under the basking spot to accumulate more heat.
When her internal temperature is in her average preferential temperature, she take they "normal" colours.
If she's in...
Sorry for late, I have not seen your answers.
I have two kind of passiflora: A Passiflora caerulea and an atropurpurea.
But flowering is almost impossible indoors.
For poop, i always find them in the center of the room. ;)
Hi,
A burn is normaly white, gray...
It makes me think about this: http://forum.tanalahy.com/tache-noire-t14401.html
It was able to someone walk on? He fell ? A shock ?
I'm not sure at all but, if that is, it's a treatment with cortisone.
Oh sorry, I don't understand correctly, i'm french...
I think it's no big deal, they can do that for various reasons. Sometime it seems they get to mad alone
Hi
Chameleons, like all reptils are ectotherm (cold-blood) so the digestion depends to internal temperature who change during the day. So, the digestion is longer than for mammals. They aren't also fed every day (exept juvenile).
i never pay attention but they must defecated about every 3-4...
I'm not sure. Personaly i think, it's because of what I just mentioned.
Veiled are territorial yes, but i think that we shouldn't put all above this.
The C.calyptratus are mainly fearful and so they react by aggressiveness.
Yes, they prefer to be on the free-range and once back in the terrarium they want out. It's at this moment we realize that are not made to live in terrarium.
Their behavior is not the same when they are on the free-range: they are more active, more curious. When you put an insect on branches...
I can't translate, i haven't got the time and the level.
An other thesis about chams but more generalist:

It's a long and complicated system but to be short, they change colours in function of the temperature, their moods, to communicate...but in no case they take the color of their environment.
They are internal (subjective) and external (objective) factors, some passive, other active...
I have an internal views :D

In fact, the reptils don't stock fat in subcutaneous tissue like mammals but in a specific place dedicated to this fonction.
Ok thank. So you haven't got a lot of restrictions.
In France, as i said earlier, only 3 species (Furcifer pardalis, Chamaeleo calyptatus and the Trioceros jacksonii) are allowed without the capacity certificate (CDC) and yet...beyond 25 adults specimens, we have to pass this certificate...
