I also saw that you have it in a glass cage? You def want a all mesh cage if possible. the glass doesnt allow for good circuation, and it makes the conditions optimal for mold to grow.
You said you are using a regular household bulb for his basking light? I would get an acual basking...
hey there,
I know its a really stressful situation for both you, and your cham. I just lost a very young (about 1 month old) nosy be panther.
First off, if your cham is sleeping during the day, thats not good. He should be awake for about 12hrs of the day. Your UV light should also be on...
I totaly understand that, I would only be using this cage for young chams. Mine right now is a baby panther. She is about 2.5 inches from snout to vent.
hey there,
well I am a little new to this. But I would think a liquid calcium supplement would be a good thing, along with a very small syringe to administer both water or the liquid calcium.
A reference book probly would be a good idea. Something that references symptoms and treatments...
I was given a cage today that is a cube 18''x 18''x 18''. It is all mesh except the back side wich is glass. Is it ok for that one side to be glass? I know they say all screen is the best, but ive never heard anything about a cage with one side glass.
I had to take my cham with me last weekend for a several hour drive. On the way up I left her in her cage and covered the whole thing with a towel, but that definitley did not work. She was scratching at the cage the whole time..she was very upset. That weekend I heard of the paper bag...
Have you tried soaking it in warm water. I beleive that will help get it off. if it looks like a rubber band, it could be cutting off circulation to the tip of the tail. You are gonna want to get it off asap
Hey everyone,
So there is a golf corse in my town that I have been told is running wild with jacksons that a breeder had let loose there several years ago. If anyone is interested, I can see if i could catch some. Although I have never attempted to catch a wild cham, its worth shot.
In my cage I have the dripper drip through the leaves, and then down into a tuperware container that I have coverd with a mesh screen so crickets dont drown in it. I just dump it out whenever it gets full, and then replace back in the same spot. Seems to work well for me.
hey everyone!
So I was at one of my local pet stores and I saw a product called "Stress Ease" made by ESU Reptiles. It can be used in any combination of three ways, adding it to their drinkng water through the drip system, add it to the water you spray with, or make a dilute soultion to soak...
Sorry bout that, its a she, her name is lia. I have thought it was a male for a while, and I just found out it is a girl, so I am getting used to calling her a her. I giver her small crickets, and the basking temp is in the mid to low 90s.
Hey,
So I keep reading about how much all of your chams eat, and how you have taught them to hand feed, or at least be able to see them eat. However my cham doesnt seem to eat as much. I would say he eats maybe 8-9 crickets a day. I have tried to hand feed him, but he never seems interested...
Im so sorry!!
I am sorry for your loss. As said before, there is comfort knowing you did all you could do. Before I became addicted to chameleons I thought it was crazy that people could bond so closley with reptiles. But now I see that is far from the truth, chameleons have so much...
I keep a steady supply of crickets in her cage all the time. I have been told that when they are young to let them eat as much as they want, and to start limiting it to 12-15 crickets a day when they are older.
As to the gut load, i threw the package materal out, but it the green cubes. I...
