Hello all,
Just thought I would pass along some pictures of my Cham I took last night.
He's a 4.5 month old Ambilobe Panther from the Kammer's. He is quite an amazing guy. I took this picture the other night. He was exactly 4.5 months when it was taken. Couldn't be happier with him or...
I would also wonder if there is a time difference from where the cham was raised from where you are keeping him (assuming you and the breeder live in different states). For the purpose of this poost and your issue, I am not going to assume the breeder lives in the same state as you. If the...
Just as Westcoastchameleons suggested, I also use the Kammers schedule:
Monday/Thursday: Repcal Herptitive (sp?)
Tuesday/Friday: Repcal with D3
Wednesday/Saturday: Miner-All O
Sunday: Nothing
Some on the forums will say that is too much which is fine. But honestly, I do not think you...
When put into the cage, some worms will just sit there and others will wiggle around like crazy. Choose a worm or several that wiggle. The action alone should be enough for her to recognize the worm as food.
You can just leave them in the box without problem. Make sure they have good ventilation.
You can definatley feed them to your cham. They may not be worth much nutritional value however as they cannot eat as moths and they used the majority of their energy spinning into the cocoon and hatching.
Honestly,
I would just spend the money on the Promist. In the end, how much money will you actually be saving. Maybe $20 to $60.00 up front. I bet you spend more in the long term though. A Chameleon is a long term investment as in they live for 8-10 years. Sure you could build one yourself...
I haven't read through all the threads so this may have been mentioned already.
I dust my crickets in a small cricket keeper. Once dusted, I move the cricket keeper into the cage and hold to opening of the keeper against the side of the cage, near the top until all the crickets are on the...
I was having a low humidity poblem as well. I had the mister programmed to go off 9 times a day to help raise the humidity. It did raise it but the cage very rarely dried off between mistings. Even with many of these misting sessions lasting inly 4-5 minutes. I was going through lmost 2.5...
Please no flaming to this post as it is for discussion and to help others in a similar situation.
I only have experience with one cham and it is a Panther (which I feel is not even worthy of citing as an example). I am rasising him in a completely sealed enclosure (with exception to the top...
I have a similar thing going on with my cage with the fact that the room his Kamara's cage is in is not plumbed for heating or AC. The room can get in the 50's during the winter. I have a heat emitter hooked up to a Herpstat Pro by Spyder Robotics. I have the deviced controlled to keep the...
The timer that came with mine Promist 60 allows you to program 14 on cycles and 14 off cycles, or more simply 14 on/off cycles. The shortest time you can have a cycle run is 1 second and no limit to the longest.
It's a simple digital timer that controls the function.
I currently have 2 cages for one cham. I have his main cage and I have a smaller, mesh enclousure for outside or to out him in when I am cleaning out his main cage.
I have found the smaller cage a huge help!
Brad,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not saying that you took it this way but please do not feel as I criticizing you for speaking out on the Kammers recommendation.
Thanks for the tip on the nostrils. I did not know this was a sign of over supplementation.
I agree that there is so much new information lately and that stuff can change on a pretty constant basis. For me right now, until I actually hear/read something based on:
1) actual scientific studies/fact
2) long term studies
3) studies done using a viable population of chams not just...
