You never know, a lot of what we know about habitats and climate is based on where the animals have been collected and don't always give an accurate representation of the temperatures/conditions they are exposed to in the wild. For example, I always thought cristatus were a cool weather species...
I agree, but he had a few photos of both males and females. I think he said the last one was seen in 2010 so maybe it was a short-lived "population" of a few individuals.
Has anyone heard of wild populations of these guys in Central Florida? I would think its way too hot for them in the summer. Saw this on my Newsfeed from Dick Bartlett.
It's funny you should mention that because I saw a documentary on Madagascar where they just happened to film chameleons feeding at night. They would do just what you described (eat and then settle back to sleep).
It is indeed a verrucosus. This one I'm thinking is a girl, her brother is much more colorful and "spikey". Laurie, glad to hear you and your baby made it home safely :).
