    Lighting question

UVB bulbs, depending on type, don't usually emit a lot of light. That doesn't matter though, since they are there for the UVB output and little else. If you have plants, they will fair much better with a linear 6500k bulb or two, which should be used in a different fixture.

    Ants!

It's a species of ant that only nests in hollow vines, so they're not much of a problem. I did remove the portion of vine which housed the ants; there's too many for him to eat in one sitting. He is still cleaning up the stragglers though, lol.

    Ants!

Just got my little veiled male today! :) After an hour of putting him in, I realized he was already eating. Apparently one of the vines from outside housed a colony of ants! The little guy sat right in front of the hole in the vine where the ants were coming out, and popped them one by one as...

    Veiled Not Eating

At that age, she is most likely gravid. As far as I know, veiled females over 6 months of age should always have access to an egg-laying box. Wait for the experts to chime in, though.

    Lost colour?

Roaches, roaches, roaches. Anyone in the US who doesn't live in Florida is LUCKY. Darn our stupid laws! And if you don't use the internet for feeder needs, you better start soon! It's cheaper than you might think. (Especially for my 22 animals!)

    Report of grasshopper breeding success?

I don't think we have access to the species, for reasons which are stated above, which is commonly used as a feeder in the UK. Most of our native species only have a couple of generations a year, meaning they're not very productive when it comes to breeding them, although it's relatively easy...

Looking at his/her's recent threads, it seems this cham only has a red basking light and no UVB.

    creepy momo bugs!

Lesser mealworms (which you can get from roachcrossing) do an AMAZING job cleaning roach bins. A small starter culture goes a long way; they breed quite fast. The larvae, which are basically small, plump, and softer mealworms, make as good of a feeder as small dubias. Unfortunately their...

escargot for Olive? snails from my woods

Just so you know, wood roaches make good feeders. :P They can climb but a simple 3 inch strip of vaseline easily stops them.

    Help with cricket breeding

Don't use a substrate for the crickets, just make sure they can get around fine if they're on something such as slick glass. Once you run out of the cricket gel, buy your own water crystals in bulk on ebay or something, it's cheaper in the long run. Screen over the egg laying container is a very...

Any reason why everyone here uses silkworm chow and not mulberry leaves? I planted 3 trees 3 years ago and they're big enough now.

Is there any non cannibalistic mantis?

What you're looking for is a communal mantis. But lo' and behold; there are no communal mantids. ALL will partake in cannibilism, some more than others. There are several species which are much less cannibilistic than T. sinesis, however these are tropical species which are considered PETS...

Help 911 chameleon problem need help asap

Grrr...I'm sorry if this comes off rude...but can you at least do A LITTLE research before you go off buying an animal like a chameleon? Judging from your setup, this was an impulse buy, and you did 0% research, and probably listened solely to a petstore employee. Otherwise, do as the...
