Lmao suppose you couldn't slip on a cockroach
I've done a bit of reading up on the parasites and came to the conclusion that I wouldn't even touch them nevermind feed them off. I had only heard of lungworm but never knew where it came from, however small the chances are of getting it
They didn't seem too worried about parasites but then again monitors bask from 140+ so maybe that could help them fight it off.
I don't bother about slugs, they're not as gross as cockroaches which I can now tolerate handling lol :p
I was recently talking with some people about the feeding of garden slugs to monitors and turns out alot of the top keepers do this but will keep them a few days to ensure they haven't come into contact with any pesticides. I was wondering if the same would apply for chams aswell? Or wether it...
She was huge for a while but then all of a sudden not. Ok I'll have a look in her bucket tomorrow. The past 2 times she has layed she has been funny like this and still ate until she layed but in the end after 3 weeks or so she did lay.
They were not receptive colours she was dark purple...
About 4 weeks ago my female panther was showing signs she was gravid, her colours and pacing the bottom of her cage. I immediately covered the cage up and has been since then but still hasn't layed. Today I removed the covers and to me, she looks normal again. She definitely hasn't layed from...
A while back I found a spare 7.5w par16 GU10 LED bulb lying around the house so thought I'd use it for a little extra light above my males enclosure. I've noticed him basking under it quite frequently so used my temp gun to take some measurements. I've found that from around 8" away from it he...
Great looking cham you have there!
Yeah they go through stages of wanting to escape all the time, my youngest male is actually going through the same just now. All the ficus I have had done the same, I just stopped buying them and went for umbrella plants, devil's ivy etc instead they seem...
I know unfortunately I couldn't afford one at the moment lol. For instance if after 6 months a 5.0 drops to 4%, then after 6 months with a 10.0 I wouldn't imagine it would drop even to 5%. But I don't have a solar meter so I can't check it :( I wonder if anyone has tested could chime in? :p...
I've always used a probe wrapped round the basking branch, would this be wrong to take the basking temp? I've got a gun aswell that I use for my bosc but to measure the basking temp for the chams would I point it at the basking branch or the cham it's self?
Edit: sorry for butting into the...
I'm using a repti glo 10.0 tube for my females repti breeze xl cage. Would the 6 month rule to replace still apply when it's a stronger bulb than the 5.0? It's almost at that 6 month mark and I was wondering if I could maybe get another month or so out of it?
Hey all. Just posting a picture of my males new reptibreeze xl enclosure. It still needs some new plants etc but all ideas welcome :D
For uv I am using a repti sun 10.0, 40w bulb for basking and I have added a led spot light and linear tube for added lighting. He actually spends alot of...
I've tried that a couple times before but, he's in a bigger cage now as of a few days ago so it's worth a shot thank!
I've not seen her receptive colours since she was about 6 months old.
