    Blatta lateralis

I kept my eggs loose in the cage. As long as it was warm and a little humid, they would hatch like crazy. I didn't like these roaches because mine could climb smooth surfaces (even brand new tubs,) they are apparently a rapidly spreading pest species in the US, and I have heard of horror...

    R. temporalis cage

Maybe a little more plant/foliage. Mine have always liked to hang out low, but in/near foliage to hide. I couldn't find half of them half of the time. Mine would hide under pothos leaves or behind ferns. The female is thin which could be why she is behaving differently, so make sure she gets...

    Breeding Ethics

I don't have a ton of experience with this, but I would respectfully argue that the near 0 mortality would suggest that it is not a mill. If a mill is an operation where profit is put before the well fare of the animals, then how can a breeder with almost no mortalities be considered a mill? I...

    Strange ?Eggs?

They seem like I calcified eggs. Aside from that, I don't really know much about it. Perhaps do a search on the boards to see what others suggest? As for the 5 days without food thing, a healthy adult panther/veiled will have no issues going 5 days without eating. Some can go a month without...

    Inbreeding panther chameleons

I think I know which business this is about. There is a huge thread on fauna about it from a while ago, and it is easy to find if you search. The company claimed they were line breeding, while others felt what they were doing is not line breeding, but inbreeding. It is about a very well known...

    Little Male

Can you fill out the how to ask for help form and post pics of the chameleons and set ups? It sounds like there might be something wrong with either them or their husbandry.

    Let her bite me?

Try splitting a stick down the middle about 1" and stick the legs of the bug into the split (crickets and roaches work best for this.) Then feed her that way with your hand hidden. After she is used to this, start letting her see your hand. Eventually work your way up so that you are holding the...

    The thumb rule?

It's the second line, but if you are careful, they can eat bugs that are a little smaller than the width of their jaw. (So about right between the sizes of the two lines you made.) Just watch them eat to make sure nothing goes wrong. Soft bugs can definitely be that size. The harder bugs you...

Baby veiled in basking spot with mouth open

Do you have multiple branches under the basking spot with varying distances? If they don't have the option to have several different basking branches at different temps, they are forced to sit in one area until their core body temp is what it needs to be, even if that means they are too hot or...

    When do they stop growing?

Generally, they are pretty much as long as they will get at 18 months old, and are about as heavy as they will get at 24 months old. This is for a healthy adult, and of course it can vary from animal to animal. They do continue to grow throughout their lives, but after 24 months, it is such a...

Does anyone know make crickets lay eggs

If the laying substrate is correct and the right moistness, and they can easily access it, they will lay by themselves. It's best to start with at least 50-100 or more adults so that you get a good amount of eggs though.

How do I get him mouth to say open?

I use a soft rubber spatula for the stubborn ones. It is thin enough that I can gently slide it between the teeth and open the mouth, and soft enough that if they bite, it won't hurt them. I have also heard if people using credit cards, but I like rubber spatulas better.

    Should I be concerned ?

Some just don't lay eggs, especially if you are trying to prevent egg laying. By reducing food intake and lowering basking temps, all the females I have raised from babies have never laid eggs unless I bred them. Just make sure she is healthy and not underweight, and everything is likely fine.

    Let her bite me?

Try a stick. And then use one hand to kind of scoot/scare her onto the stick. I would also start trying to hand feed and all that to get her used to you. I've allowed babies to go ahead and bite me, and they all turned out fine. They all stopped biting once they got a little older and more...

    Does yours eat his veggies?!

Mine only likes various plants that I have collected outside (wild mustard plants, dandelions, etc.) and I put them in a small cup with water so they stay fresh. He didn't want to eat them at first, but I just popped some in his mouth while he was chewing up bugs a few times, and he started...

how cold can my dubias get?

Mine have been in the 50s without heat and none seemed to die off. They stopped moving though. I would just bring them in at night or wrap them up. If you have a garage or shed, putting them in there should be fine. If you get a heating pad they should be fine though.

    Succesfully breed crickets. Need help.

When the adults have wings, and the females have a ovipositors (the long tube things that stick out of their butts, it's where they lay eggs from.) The females will know what to do when you put the laying substrate in there. Just make sure it's easy to access.

Good first chameleon for an experienced herp nut?

These forums are some of the best I have ever seen. It is very welcoming and friendly compared to nearly every other forum I've ever joined. A lot of them made me feel like the members looked down on me or like I was incapable of being a keeper, but this forum is nothing like that. :) Veileds...

Male and female being kept together

While it can be done, it's really not a good idea for new or inexperienced keepers to attempt. Chamallen, I feel like your post might be misconstrued by new keepers so that they think it's is necessary or easy to keep several chameleons together. I don't think that is what you meant, but I don't...
