    Kinyongia boehmei

Is this what is known as the Boheme's Black Two-Horned chameleon. I saw it on a pricelist with no genus/species listed.

Official Enclosure Picture Thread #2 - post your pics!

I wanted to get your guys' take on this grape vine on eBay I want to stick in a closet across it as a horizontal perch for mellers: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=321082444852&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 They're 3/8th to 1/2 inch in diameter. Is this something I'm...

    My Cham wont eat roaches

Starve one of the dubia for a couple days then put it in a shallow bowl/cup with a piece of banana to chew on. This will ensure the roach moves around and hopefully catches the cham's attention. The big problem I run into with fat, content roaches is they don't move around at all because they're...

    Proper egg orientation - oustaleti

Thank you. I'm glad to see someone else has done exactly what I have before. So I'm guessing based on what your blog alluded to...I'm just sitting the eggs upright as if they were chicken eggs in a carton?

    Proper egg orientation - oustaleti

So I don't know how common this is, but I figured there's no reason not to share in the event it helps others in the future. I had a gravid female oustaleti that became very eggbound and it stopped eating. Anyways after a painstaking week of encouraging her to go into a lay bin and feed her...

    Feeder cups

Best advice I've gotten so far lol. I rubbed about a 1.5" layer around the top of the tub and NONE of the lobsters have escaped in 3 weeks. Looks like olive oil doesn't evaporate or break down too quickly in a cramped, feces-filled roach tub. I need to figure something out for my uroplatus...

    Quad pictures

How often does she drink? Does she climb upside to get the droplets off the screen or is she drinking from the leaves? And how often does she feed?

New planted vivarium / Great stuff

I think the chams will benefit from the shade as well - good idea. My only concern is any pockets where moisture can get stuck and become stagnant, so be careful there aren't too many depressions that are deep or far back out of the air exposure to cause mold and so on. What do you plan to do...

    Signs of Dehydration/Hydration

My oustalets will sample the leaves/branches by sticking their tongue out to lick it, almost like a snake does to smell the ground beneath it. They do it every few hours to see if there's moisture. Other than that, if you start a drip over the top into the cage and they're not drawn to the...

    thermostat

I don't know if a thermostat is necessary. If your cage is setup properly they are equipped to self-regulate. I just bought a laser temp gun and I clocked the area on the screen just below the 10.0 UVB bulb I use at the mid-90's. The bottom of the cage is 75-76. In between you'll have an obvious...

    Which roaches to get?

Purebred discoid breed slower than the hybrid B giganteus/B discoidalis CB in the hobby. I have both the hybrid and the purebred B. giganteus and aside from my lobster roaches the hybrids breed quickest. And no, they do not fly. The only roaches that I know of that fly that are also in the...

    different feeders

Does anyone know a reliable dealer for nightcrawlers/earthworms? My oustaleti male likes them, and I think I need to switch it up for them. Hornworms are just a hit or miss with my guys (big chameleons). And my dubia/discoid bins don't produce fast enough to keep up with them. I read the...

Where To Keep My Roaches and Crickets

Please don't tell me you plan to breed crickets...smelly, messy, damp mess. Roaches on the other hand can be kept in tubs on egg crates without problem.

No, but I'll have to look into that.

    Feeder cups

@ Kate: please repost picture. It's no longer displaying. Still looking for tips!!! Lobsters crawl everything, and burrow into the substrate the first chance they get. I've resorted to sticking them in the freezer for 5 minutes before feeding just so the chams can catch them.

    Are all chams THIS way?

No, it is not the norm. Also, I'm not sure what clued you into the emotions of your chameleon (look up: reptile brains), but chameleons in general are solitary creatures.
