Cup Method - Anyone do This?

I have a similar setup to the link from Hempa. I placed some fake vines around it so it doesn't look like a cut up milk jug in the cage. Godzilla is by it every morning waiting for breakfast.

    Cricket Life

I was looking into buying either 500 or 1000 crickets to reduce cost, but how long do they live (when in good conditions)? I only have 1 cham and he eats 15 a day, so 500 would be like a months worth. Will 1/2" crickets live for a month or will half of them die anyway?

    Cricket Size

What do you do with the crickets while cleaning? Do you transfer them to a second tank?

    Cricket Size

I only have one cham. Does it make sense to buy 500 at a time or will the cost to maintain them make it not worth it? He is eating about 10/day so we are talking about close to a 2 month supply. I have a 20 gallon tank with screen top to store them in, so I don't think I would kill them, but...

    Cricket Size

What is the appropriate size for a young veiled to eat? His head is maybe a 1/2" between the eyes. I have read that that is the size of the cricket he should be eating. At a reptile show, I was told he should be eating at least 3/4". What is the consensus here?

    Best Screen Material?

There is a fiberglass mesh that you can get at a Lowes or Home Depot. I don't know if anyone uses it. The screen cages I have seen online all seem to use aluminum.

newbie some pointers would be great

I purchased this kit. The veiled shipped fine to Delaware, so I don't think you can get a lot further away in the U.S. It has most of the things you will need to get started, but as someone else already said, you will need to purchase live plants separate as well as a misting bottle. My...

    Closed Left Eye

Looks like it was just something that got into his eye. The vet put an anti-inflammatory in his eye and he is coming along nicely. Still not 100%, but on his way. Doesn't look like he was a fan of the grass though. The black stripes flared up.

    Shurflo

Does anyone have a model that is recommended? I have seen Shurflo units that do 1 GPM @ 45 and have seen other models with higher flow and pressure. Anyone using these? What model(s)?

Does the bulb make a difference?

Just curious. I have the reptisun 5.0 no my young veiled's setup, but where do you guys place them at above the cage? I have mine in the front of the cage with the basking light in the far back right corner. The reason I ask is that the chameleon stays in the back for the most part and never...

Pics of the eye Here are pics of his left eye and right eye. Does this look infected with the dark spot on the left eye?

    Closed Left Eye

I noticed that Godzilla has been keeping his left eye closed a lot. I also see him bulging it. I think he may have gotten some of the calcium powder in it when he was reeling in a cricket. Should I try to flush it out with water or is it time for his first vet visit? Any ideas are appreciated:D

    New Cham

Everything I have read points to No on the glass cage deal. Of course, as you can see from my post, I am a newbie to chams.

    New Cham

Brad, I saw your 2 liter bottle feeder on your link and will be using that concept. I hate the idea of having a cut up milk jug. It looks like a cut up milk jug!!

    New Cham

I haven't seen him drink. Although once he did shoot his tongue out at a leaf. He doesn't really seem bothered with the misting either. I spray around and over him and he doesn't run to get out from under the water. I haven't seen him go in the direction of the dripper. One other thing...

    New Cham

LLLReptile.com. I read good things. They did overnight him. I also have a couple of free range crickets, but he doesn't go for them. 65 gallon is probably too big for him, so I wanted to setup the feeder. Thanks.

    New Cham

Here is my new veiled. My son has named him Godzilla:D. Just wanted to show him off and see if anyone had any recommendations. I have had him for two days now and he eats one cricket out of the 5 that I put in the feeder (modified milk jug) and then takes off. Is this just because he is...
